A Faithless Preacher? Or A Mean Motherf**kin' Servant Of God?

Priest Movie.jpg

Here’s the new, somewhat more exciting trailer for Priest, which features Paul Bettany kicking ass for the Lord, fighting monsters, and using weird weaponry. It’s directed by Scott Charles Stewart, whose last film was Legion, which featured Paul Bettany kicking ass… for the Lord… uh… fighting monsters and…

um…

… Well. This is awkward, isn’t it?

Sure, sure, he’s not an angel this time. And he’s fighting vampires instead of… whatever the fuck he fought in Legion. It’s totally a different movie.

OK, it actually does look kind of cool, as far as those blighted-wasteland-of-the-future flicks go. Plus, it’s got Karl Urban. And Maggie Q, who I find myself liking for no good reason other than her 15 minutes in MI:3.

Then again, I thought Legion looked like the fucking balls as well, and look how that turned out.

So I take it this is Bettany's way of compensating for playing Darwin?

It also has Madchen Amick and that guy from True Blood.
If that's a positive, I'm not sure.

I'm in.. for now.

I never saw Legion but I heard the whole thing while it was on the TV in the other room. It sounded like a movie only a knuckle dragger could love.

I saw this trailer and thought "This must be the Legion sequel. It looks effing retarded" and then when I saw it was based on a graphic novel my initial reaction was "oh, well that explains it. Bad graphic novel translation"

That said, I'm a sucker for post apocalyptic/dystopian world movies. So I'll probably see it. I predict the review will be thus "Neat idea, piss poor execution"

Nice headline!

The Mr and I watched From Dusk 'til Dawn just last night!

This looks like Judge Dredd fucked a Bible.

1. I can weave better looking cloth than what he's wearing on a hand loom. Are you telling me they have all this futuristic computerized equipment and they can't weave decent cloth? Looms used punchcards a century and a half before computers did.

2. I see the laws of physics don't apply in this universe.

CGI vampire monsters, ramping the film speed and predictable colour grading. This appears to be movie-making by numbers.

I'll wait till it's on TV thanks.

Blade Runner called. It wants its art direction back.

Looks pretty awful to me! Mr. Bettany had better watch out. He's becoming a "type" and that's not a good thing.

I think it looks delightfully entertaining. That's right fuckers, I'M being optimistic.

Yes to a lot of the above, but.....KARL URBAN. I have no idea if he can pull of truly dramatic roles, but he can wear sweet hats and kick the crap out of people all day long and I'll pay to see it.

Might be good, but Bettany is miscast. I don't need to see the trailer to tell that. He is good where he can talk a lot, not when he adopts Christian Bale's Batman voice.

I find Paul Bettany incredibly sexy when he's kicking ass for the Lord therefore I will probably see this.

This looks stupid. However, anything that makes vampires into bad guys again instead of the whiny fucking twats that represent them EVERYWHERE right now, I'm for it.

This seems to deviate from the comic in almost every single way BUT it does look fairly bad ass.

They should probably just stop dicking around and go ahead and make Gather, Darkness! which has the benefit of being well written in the first place.

Ew, Vampire Bill (HATE). Yay! Charles Widmore! (LOVE) WHY DOES PAUL BETTANY HAVE AN AMERICAN ACCENT? That is a crime against g*d.

I would feel bad about lusting after a priest, except apparently in this universe there are also girl priests, and sometimes the boy priests and girl priests make out.

One of the shots with Urban seems to feature him imitating Gary Oldman's opera loving villain in Leon.

Plus with Dredd coming up, he may be cornering the market in post-apoc badasses.

This looks way cooler than Legion. But equally stupid.

This is giving me an 'Underworld' or (gulp) 'Van Helsing' vibe. Not good...hope this isn't the '10 version of 'Jonah Hex.'

Good post! I have been searching yahoo for hours searching for relevant facts about this, they definitely need to position your website much higher!
