Phillip Seymour Hoffman Does Whimsiquirkilicious

Here’s the trailer for Jack Goes Boating, which is based on a Bob Glaudini off-Broadway play that Philip Seymour Hoffman also starred in. He’s directing here, and more importantly, it also stars Amy Ryan, who is the ninth wonder. It’s a whimisiquirkilicious romantic comedy, but it looks light on the whimsy, but maybe heavy on the quirk. I don’t know what the hell is going on with Hoffman’s hair in this, but it otherwise looks like the kind of flick I’d go a little soft in the head for.

The plot is describes as such: “A limo driver’s blind date sparks a tale of love, betrayal, friendship, and grace centered around a working-class New York City couple.”

Does whimsiquirkilicious automatically come pre-loaded with a manicpixiedreamgirl? Amy Ryan can do anything, so I think chances are excellent.

I love love love PSH!
But is it wrong that I want to reach in and fix his hair? So distracting!
Yes, I'd see this. God bless Netflix. :)

I love everything about that trailer. And it appeals to my crazy love for Phillip Seymour Hoffman.

I think I remember reading a review of the play in which PSH's character was described as being a bit of a Rastafarian at heart, which may explain the hair.

Balding white guys should never be Rastafarian in the hair. In the heart, fine, but not in the hair.

Also, she says, "Hold me," so I will not see this.

I think I told you all the story once, way back in college, where we dressed up our 17 year old downstairs neighbor boys as girls, complete with rolled bandana headbands, and dolphin shorts (it was 1980), and makeup and nailpolish. And then us girls started throwing every line that had ever been used on us, on them. And they looked really uncomfortable. And then one of them turned to one of us girls and said, "Just hold me!" And we said that wasn't a line, and they said it was, and then everytime I heard that line on a soap opera, I'd laugh, instead of saying, "Awwww!" and I heard it like 5 times a day.

nope

It's really not doing anything for me either. I think that maybe PSH should avoid all movies with any king of nautical themes.

Please...please tell me that Philip Seymour Hoffman is growing his hair into dreads because he's playing some crazy Penguin in the next Batman movie.

so, is PSH's character supposed to be developmentally challenged? between being unable to form a sentence, not knowing how to comb his hair and not understanding where one does and does not wear a toque all I got out this trailer was that the protagonist is seriously squelched in the head.

some comedy, watch the lonely shortbus kid looking for love.

Love for Phillip Seymour Hoffman is never crazy.

This trailer reminds me a lot of "Adam" with Hugh Dancy as a socially challenged dude and Rose Byrne as his "unattainable" dream girl. That movie did not end as most viewers expected, and I liked that about it. Hopefully this will be as enjoyable.
