Pajiba's Daily Contribution to Your Overall Apathy

Here’s a fun little contest. This morning, let’s all watch the teaser for the sequel to Kung Fu Panda, and engage in the proverbial battle of who could care less. I care less than George W. Bush cares about black people.

Can you top that? How little do you care?

Ummmmm ... I liked the first one, and I'm looking forward to the second. So I guess I lost this contest.

I won the Kung Fu Eye contest!

Is there a prize?

I care less than Russia does about perv neighbors in glasses.

I loved the first one and every kid I know loved it and I watch it everytime it's on TV. I'm looking forward to a fun outing with a bunch of kiddies next Summer. Guess I lose this contest also. Sorry.

Outside of a movie theater, this trailer is kind of pointless. But I enjoyed the first movie, so I cannot fake my way into a battle of care-less-ness.

Pandas are played out, I'm sick of them already.

/starting the Panda backlash

Given that I liked the first one more than Wall-E...yeah, I'm actually looking forward to the 2nd one.

Hopefully more Jackie Chan and less Seth Rogen in this one though.

Posted by: Fredo at November 9, 2010 11:16 AM

I loved the first one. It was cute, funny, well-acted, and beautifully animated. I will continue to look forward to the second one until footage gives me a reason not to. This teaser shows me nothing other than, "Oh look, another movie with that cute panda is coming out. Perhaps Lucy Liu is getting another paycheck."

Given that I liked the first one more than Wall-E...yeah,

------------------------------------------

I don't think that's technically possible. Go back and watch them again.

Posted by: BarbadoSlim at November 9, 2010 11:21 AM

I really liked the first movie, but not as much as I love interracial chats! Those are awesome! Black people, white people, Chinese pandas,...can't beat it!

Posted by: sars at November 9, 2010 11:24 AM

I don't think that's technically possible. Go back and watch them again.

It is possible and I did watch them again. Don't get me wrong: I recognize that the superior film is Wall-E. It's an achievement of sounds and visual. And it has the more original story -- as Dreamworks Animation can only do one type of story, the "outsider overcoming obstacles to learn important life lesson and save the day."

But in terms of actual enjoyment of the movie and in terms of sitting through it again and liking it, I prefer Kung Fu Panda. It has an actual villain (not a late-term pseudo-bad-robot). It has some great visuals: the bridge scene or the opening dream sequence.

Wall-E is like Pink Floyd. Kung Fu Panda is Airbourne (a 2nd rate copycat of AC/DC). But guess which one cranks out better coming out of the radio?

if they made a sequel to Wall-E. I'd watch it.

Posted by: LordNinja at November 9, 2010 11:29 AM

I also liked Kung Fu Panda more than Wall-E, but entirely for selfish reasons. See, Kung Fu Panda was the first film my grandmother saw in movie theaters since Disney's Tarzan. I asked her if she wanted to see Wall-E, too, and she screamed, "NO! I want the Panda." I was rendered speechless and just started laughing. For months, she would just randomly shout out "I want the Panda" to get the whole family laughing. Before anyone asks, it was intentional, and she admitted as much. For that reason alone, I prefer the Panda.

Yeah really liked first one as well & prob'will see this one too but
MAAAAAN am I tired of martial arts spoofs using Carl Douglas' Kung Fu Fighting as a soundtrack. May I kindly suggest an alternative if you REALLY need the words 'kung fu' in the title?

It's a shitty trailer, but as this was probably the best thing to come out of Dreamworks animation before How To Train Your Dragon, I can't be bothered to play nihilistic stupidity games.

I care less than Obama cares about teaparties

Posted by: BigTodd at November 9, 2010 11:44 AM

Worthless teaser, but I'm actually excited for this to come out. Just because Megamind wasn't great doesn't mean everything has to be!

Posted by: danny at November 9, 2010 11:45 AM

WALL-E, while a good movie, is seriously overrated. It's definitely near the bottom of Pixar's catalog for me. I really liked it up to the stuff on the spaceship, then it just got annoying. The fat humans, self absorption, blah blah I get it. And how exactly did their lot improve at the end? The Earth has become a desert/junk yard but one plant is still alive? Great, move everybody home!

Kung Fu Panda, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, hell, Monsters Vs Aliens were more entertaining. I'm sure when I finally see How to Train Your Dragon this week I'll like it more, too.

Sorry, just not swallowing the WALL-E Kool-aid. It's good, it's not a masterpiece.

Wait,...slightly confused...What the hell is Tai Lung doing on the photo with Po and Shifu like nothing happened between them?

Like I need your help with my apathy.

Posted by: Mrs. Julien at November 9, 2010 12:04 PM

I care less than that one Ben Folds Five song about not caring. What was it called again? Oh yeah, Brick!

Posted by: Jeremy Feist at November 9, 2010 12:26 PM

I can't be bothered to play nihilistic stupidity games.

But nihilistic stupidity games are fun! (More fun than work, anyway.)

Posted by: MM at November 9, 2010 3:18 PM

What are you talking about?? Care less???
The first movie was awesome.

I care damn it! I care!

Posted by: junierizzle at November 9, 2010 4:24 PM

I could care less (suck on it).

Posted by: superasente at November 9, 2010 6:53 PM

yeah add me to the "Liked Kung Fu Panda over Wall-e" group. Wall-e was over rated. Fine movie but they shat the bed when they went into space.

If they could have kept the entire movie with just Eve and Wall-e and minimal dialouge on earth it would have been brilliant.

Also Kung Fu Panda has some of the most amazing action pieces of any CG movie I've ever seen. Tai Lung escaping from jail was worth the price of admission.

Is this "Trailer Hate Day?"

How did I miss that memo?

Posted by: Fredo at November 9, 2010 11:26 AM

Pink Floyd, every fucking time.

Posted by: Uriah Creep at November 9, 2010 10:35 PM

Okay.

Wall-E wasn't that great. I'll give you that.

But it is one of those movies I believe (because it's Pixar) that will be forever remembered as a wonderful movie.

Kung Fu Panda, on the other hand, people will forget about within five years time. Wall-E? On the other hand is memorable, and will be one of those movies that gets a hall of fame, just like Toy Story.

Posted by: LordNinja at November 10, 2010 1:56 AM

I like Wall-E and Kung Fu Panda.

Posted by: John G. at November 10, 2010 2:10 AM

Sorry. I have to abstain from this contest. I actually really loved the first movie.

Posted by: ChristianH at November 10, 2010 11:39 AM

Not as much as Wall-E. I won't go that far. But I like them both a lot.

Posted by: ChristianH at November 10, 2010 11:40 AM

That trailer is bad, but the first one was so damn pretty I´m still going to see it. I´m a sucker for nice textures and good character design.
