The trailer for the Benicio del Toro-led semi-fictionalized Pablo Escobar biopic has its first full trailer. The movie comes from writer/director Andrea Di Stefano, and if you’re not familiar with that name, it’s because this film is his coming-out party. Escobar: Paradise Lost focuses on little Josh Hutcherson as a Canadian surfer (he may as well be wearing a sign saying “Look how white and naive I am!”) who gets caught up in Escobar’s ring. If you’re able to, and interested in setting aside the “poor white boy caught up in the scary brown world” point of view that this film is being told through, it looks like it has potential to be a decent, if completely sensational, movie.

Or, you know, a total mess. One or the other.
