No, It's Not Matthew: Let's Play Spot the Anachronism with These New 'Downton Abbey' Season 5 Photos

The first series 5 Downton Abbey photos have arrived, and according to creator/showrunner Julian Fellows, the Crawleys find themselves “…incontrovertibly living in the modern world.” I guess that’s why the set decorators threw in a little anachronism? I mean, it *could* be a little inside joke couldn’t it? Else, someone’s got a little ‘splainin’ to do, Lucy. Have a looksie…it shouldn’t be too difficult to divine.

You found it, didn’t you? No, Thomas isn’t wearing a hairpiece. It’s (swipe ahead to read): the plastic water bottle on the mantle behind Lord Grantham and Lady Edith.

Here’s the first teaser:

And, the cast talks series 5 plotlines:

Time to get glasses. I thought the water bottle was, like, a glass candle vase and that was WITH me studying the pictures carefully.

Lord Grantham's real voice is so shocking to me.

OK, first I thought it was the plastic dinosaur Mini Matthew is holding. It took me forever to realize it was an upside down rocking horse.

Then I thought Mini Sybil was going to eat my face.

Then I thought, Whoa! Daisy's wearing MASCARA. You look hot, luv.

Then I got distracted by Richard E. Grant, drool. Shit, when did he get old? He's my age, ish.

Seriously? NOBODY noticed the water bottle? All the friggin photoshop they do to make the actors look better and nobody photoshopped out the water bottle?

My husband just came home from the wine store with a bottom of Downton Abbey Claret. He thought it would be a fun bottle to serve during a dinner party. The blurb on the back is adorable.

Richard E. Grant needs to be in more things.

He will always be the Hon. Simon Marchmont to me!

Speaking of anachronism I finally watched Outlander and I'm already in love with Caitriona Balfe.

She seems worthy of your love.
