Can't You See What You Have Wrought Here, Bloody Battles Will Be Fought Here

I’m rapidly approaching “The Walking Dead” levels of excitement for this project.

Winter is coming, motherfuckers.

The series debuts April 17th, 2011 on HBO.

And am I the only one who desperately wants this band to be somehow involved? Just play this song during the credits and I’ll be happy.

Is it wrong to want to be part of a Jamie and Cersei sandwich?

This new trailer is awesome. I am super excited about this show. It looks fantastic.

I already have the premiere date written on my 2011 "Song of Ice and Fire" calendar.

I read this book years ago, back when I read these books, and all I remember from it is sweaty dwarf sex.

Will that feature in this?

Everytime I see Aidan Gillen as Littlefinger, my heart does a little happy dance.

Without a doubt, yes.

My nipples are hard but not in sexual kind of way. It's really drafty in here. Must be the winter.

"Is it wrong to want to be part of a Jamie and Cersei sandwich?"

Well I'm sure they wouldn't have any moral qualms about it...

The critics will love this because not one good thing happens to any good person.

Ziver >> It's only wrong if you're not a Lannister.

I was planning on waiting for him to finish the book series, but what with this coming up (SEAN BEAN I LOVE YOU), and the possibility that he will NEVER finish the series, I think I'll have to give it up. It just looks so good.

CAN'T WAIT. I don't have HBO, but this would make me reconsider. What are the odds the HBO series ends before the books are all done?

Posted by: Mr. Yuck at January 19, 2011 12:05 PM

That Iron Throne looks AWESOME! Cannot wait for this to start.

Posted by: fenchurch at January 19, 2011 12:50 PM

Sean Bean makes me want to pay for HBO.

Posted by: Anne (in Reno) at January 19, 2011 1:20 PM

Don't believe them. Winter is definitely NOT coming, as far as I can tell. I'm 3000+ pages through this story, and I'm still waiting for freaking winter to come ...

Posted by: jollies at January 19, 2011 1:24 PM

Sean Bean can do no wrong.

How have I not read this book yet?

Posted by: dmbmeg at January 19, 2011 1:24 PM

I have loved the series since someone gave me The Game of Thrones as a present; have waited patiently and longingly for the next installment, hoping against hope that it would be the next year or the year after; have lost my patience with George R. R. Martin and would like to do a Kathy Bates a la Misery on his ass; have become apathetic with the waiting; and have now revived my interest with this HBO production and forgave him.

But please for the love of Catelyn (which I still haven't forgiven you for) finish the series!!!!! /cry

I love the series and cannot wait for fucking Winter to finally come! In April!

I'll reiterate my rather verbose review from Facebook:

"*FANATICAL SCREAM*"

I can not wait for this show to come out! The last time I was this excited was for the Boardwalk Empire series. That was beautiful in HD on HBO with DISH Network and I'm sure this will be as well. As an employee of DISH I almost went crazy with excitement. From everything I have heard this Game of Thrones should be great!

Posted by: fettman24 at January 19, 2011 4:07 PM

Ok. So I have to get HBO by April. I just don't know which one this will be on - HBO West, HBO east, HBO Family.... Help me out here people!

Posted by: Four Eyes at January 19, 2011 4:35 PM

Now, would you say it's better to read the book before this comes on?

Yes.

Jesus Christ, if that song you posted were in any way connected to this show, it would be a heinous shattering of atmosphere. No shitty rock anachronisms, please.

Posted by: Endendlethruk at January 19, 2011 6:28 PM

I read Game of Thrones after the first trailer. I'm about 80% done with the second book and I'm having a hard time pacing myself. I might have to see if HBO will release this on iTunes or Amazon, because I'm going to have to watch.

i finally caved and read the books last year in preparation for this series. i thought they were okay. the show looks awesome though.

i think it would be cool if the show was a huge success and they adapted one of the books every year. though with the size of some of them it could take more than four seasons to get through the four books. but here's the thing.

what if they adapted all the books and just kept going? it seems martin is never going to finish the series so if these guys are competent let them take the story where they see fit?

just an idea.

Posted by: splinter at January 19, 2011 10:05 PM

Should be great as long as they keep that terribly inappropriate shouty hard-rock music away from it...

Posted by: Justin Halliday at January 19, 2011 10:27 PM

I honestly wasn't even this excited about Dollhouse before it came out, and I'm a hardcore Whedonite.

Posted by: GwenBear at January 19, 2011 11:13 PM

First direwolf sighting!!!! And it's Ghost! Pros: not CGI (thank the gods), size. Cons: does he have black eyes?! That could be a deal-breaker, HBO! (I'm hoping it's just the lighting)...

Who am I kidding, HBO pretty much gets a free pass from me after they cast Peter Dinklage as Tyrion.

Also, may the Others take Mr. Martin if he doesn't finish the series.

Anyone else wondering who would be cast as Brianne ?

Me wants to see this one badly. I suffer at the thought of having to wait another three months till it comes out. Oh what a cruel world we live in.

Posted by: Muteki at January 20, 2011 5:08 AM

The Sword rules, Song of Ice & Fire rules, Game of Thrones will rule.

Posted by: seth at January 20, 2011 11:59 AM

Thank you Forbiddendonut. Three months is probably about long enough to read it (assuming it comes onto the new HBO channel we're getting over here), judging by its door-stop size.
