I don’t know if it’s even possible for me to be any more excited about AMC’s upcoming miniseries “The Walking Dead.” If it sucks, you’ll be able to hear my fury on the fucking moon. My rage will cross space and time and likely blow a hole in the planet.

Which is why I’m going to scale back the enthusiasm and just show you the newest ad from AMC. It’s 30 seconds long. It’s got a lousy voice over. It’s basically footage from the earlier trailer, recut to make it look more actiony, which is fine as it’ll likely rope in more viewers (who are not going to know what hit them).

The show starts on Halloween night.

This is another one of those TV shows I'll have to watch when my wife isn't looking. When she sees strange TV shows on the Tivo list and asks what the show is, my response is always "Just some show I heard about (on Pajiba)"

The only thing tempering my enthusiasm is having to watch it in fucking standard def. I don't watch Mad Men (it's on the list for eventual consumption) so I had no idea Direct TV doesn't carry AMC in HD. Which totally infuriates me and almost makes me want to hold out for the Blu Ray rather than watch an inferior presentation. Fuckin' animals. But I will watch the first episode and if it's too painful wait it out. And write angry profanity filled tirades to Direct TV daily.

@peachfish, gah, I'm the same. Sadly, I'm in Toronto otherwise I'd totally meet up for beer and screaming. At least you have the drafthouse! My girlfriends wanted to go see Sex & The City 2 for a girls night. That's really all you need to know. *Sad Nicole* (No, I didn't go; I love my friends, but not that much)

@peashfish- Whoooo Austin! I have just spent half this morning sitting in the best weather Ausitn has to offer and reading the 7th volume of The Walking Dead! I must say, all of my friends here (though I love them dearly) won't watch anything resembling horror or zombie fright. I am so down for some scary ass fun!

@peachfish, does your horror-movie-loving friend live in Seattle? I am most fortunate in that I have a dear horror-movie-loving friend and our girls nights out always involve horror movies, usually bad ones. But I could always use another such friend!

Okay, I'm praying this is good, because we need quality zombie material. The genre's getting beat up -- too many ironic twisty stories, too many heartfelt amateur efforts... And also because my novel comes out on the 26th and if AMC doesn't deliver, MY SALES WILL GET CLOBBERED!

But if they do deliver, I stand to make hundreds.

Just reading the comics now, so far damn good, they are not afraid to kill characters off. Hopefully the tv version will do the same. Imagine if Sawyer had been killed off on Lost, that would have been bad ass.
