New Clip From Captain America: "ET" Ruins Everything

When it comes to this gig, few things annoy me more than the fact that tacky, trashy, tiring outlets like “Entertainment Tonight” frequently get first glimpses of movies that I’m interested in. They’re the TMZ of television, and they feel the need to sparkle up everything they produce, and voice it over with the smarmiest, most obnoxious voice you could ever imagine. But… they’ve got new Captain America (screw it, I’m not using the full title anymore) footage, and thus for a couple of minutes, you’ll be their bitch.

Guh. I recommend a 3/8” drill bit to clear that voice out of your brain.

That aside, I’m still interested, if not somewhat excited about the film. I doubt we’re going to get another Iron Man or The Dark Knight, but honestly? I’ll be satisfied if it’s just plain fun. The new footage above doesn’t show much — a bit more of the CGI trickery that made Chris Evans go all puny human and shit, a quick glimpse of what I assume are the Howling Commandos (pretty sure I saw a little Dum Dum Dugan in there), and the lovely Hayley Atwell.

Given the critical role that Cap has in The Avengers comic, hopefully this comes out OK, so that he’ll fit well into The Avengers, the movie.

Hate to say it, but it looks like a good bit of fun.

Also Hayley Atwell is a gorgeous pretty-face, so...that helps, even if you're a straight lady.

You know, when Captain America throws his mighty shield
All those who chose oppose his shield must yield...

"they're the TMZ of television"

Um ... you DO know there's a TMZ television show, don't you? A horrible, awful television show, but it's there.

I did not know that, and you have no idea how happy I am about that. And now you've ruined that bit of blissful ignorance. - TK

I recommend watching with no sound. That way you get to focus on Chris Evans' pecs instead of on grating voiceovers.

Craptain America, more like.

Is that Tommy Lee Jones' voice I heard? (not the ET douche) That makes me happy.

Yes, Fracas, he is in the film.

Wow this looks really lame compared to the awesome things we got from Thor. But then again it's not like there is much to work with. The guy basically has the "powers" of your average action hero but has an incredibly awful suit and a shield instead of Rambo's machine gun or McClane's well time Yippee Ki Yay, Motherfucker.

I think the deciding factor which will decide if this will be a fun action movie or a cringe worthy disaster worthy of being called a Sy Fy original would be whether the Captain will actually kill people and destroy crap on a massive scale or if he would be doing something lame like throwing his frisbee and knocking out people like in the cartoons

Still excited!
But can I say how much I dislike this "actors' faces on different bodies" special effect? I do. A lot. Creepy.

I was about to say...

Horrible excuses for human beings, that TMZ bunch, and let's not even say anything about them as journalists. It's like a bad episode of Dirt (not to suggest there were any good episodes).
