Marvel is beating that promotional drum like crazy now, and as we get closer to Age of Ultron’s May 1st release, you might swear you’ve already seen the whole movie. But, you know Whedon always holds back a few surprises, so don’t worry yourself too much. We have seen a fair amount of footage, but what we haven’t *heard* until now is Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Quicksilver speak, and let me tell you, I think I have another Marvel crush (sorry, Cap!). There’s always room for more in our hearts, right, you guys?

For this new clip, RDJ brings his usual antagonistic swagger (never leave home without it), and we get a nice (header) slow-mo, giffable moment where the team heads out together — then, suddenly near the end comes the delightfully unexpected Quicksilverspeak. Sure, go ahead and slap me for not being a comic reader who already knows he and his sister are Eastern European; I like a surprise. And so will you. Check it:

Hello, my pretty.

In this interview, Joss Whedon talks about bringing on Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver because he grew up reading them, and “they’re in the DNA of the Avengers.

“It was really important for me to have people who would change the game, emotionally and stylistically. Their powers are completely different, and so through them we get to see things differently…it just adds so much to the palette, and the two of them are just ridiculously great.”

The interviewer also asked a great question: “Will we be seeing Marvel characters that aren’t yet in the preview photos. Are we going to be seeing other…Marvel characters that maybe we’ve seen in other films or other parts of the universe?”

Whedon: “Yes.”

I hope that was a yes to both questions — meaning we’ll see somebody(ies) we weren’t expecting. Maybe a surprise Carol Danvers/Ms. Marvel appearance, or perhaps Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange really did do that cameo/post-credits scene.

Speaking of Cumberbatch (and strange), here’s his Chewbacca impression!

Obligatory, you know…
