There's a lot about Neighborhood Watch that makes one think it could be uproariously funny. It's written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who've collaborated on some fun, if inconsistent movies. It's directed by SNL writer Akiva Schaffer. And it's got a cast that can be very funny, although they're desperately hit-or-miss -- Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, Richard Ayoade, and, believe it or not, Billy Crudup.

That's a lot of coulda-shoulda-woulda up there, you know? And I'll tell you, I don't know that I'm feeling it with this trailer:

The gag at the end is typical Stiller nonsense, and there isn't nearly enough Billy Crudup. However, what makes things interesting is that, believe it or not, Neighborhood Watch involves that quartet of imbeciles stumbling onto... an alien invasion.

I shit you not. It's like the dumb-joke suburban version of Attack The Block. Man, I don't know. I just don't know.
