Do Not Like. Make It Stop

Below is the trailer for Tarik Saleh’s Metropia, an animated film set in the near future, “where oil reserves are nearly depleted and Europe is connected by series of underground tunnels. While navigating these tunnels, Roger hears voices, one in particular. Seeking a way to rid himself of the voice only leads Roger deeper into a bizarre conspiracy of control - mind and body.”

The logline doesn’t make a lot of sense, but then, neither does the trailer. The voice cast includes Vincent Gallo and Juliet Lewis, so you can probably expect the movie to be as freakishly bizarre as they are. But the trailer — Egads. It reminds me of the first time I saw a Tool video, at 2 a.m., on MTV. It gave me the Big Willies (nah! I ain’t mad at ya), and I fell asleep huddled under the couch cushions, waiting for little animated men to come swallow my soul.

Little, animated, creepy people. Let’s get some Calgon up in this motherfucker.

Whatever, dude. You had the Big Willies coming. You had them coming big time.

You deserve whatever you get for your blatant attempts to keep posting about that god damned human centipede movie and the related picture. You have been tormenting the people week in and week out with that horrific nonsense. The whole "I saw this on Deadspin" is your lamest excuse yet.

So, I, for one, would like to thank those little, animated, creepy people for letting you know how the rest of us feel. And they are coming for you and they will swallow your soul.

Ok wait, that gave you the willies, but live action surgically connected mouth to anus didn't?

Also, Metropia sounds like something you'd need to wear glasses to correct.

I have to say that I'm just a tiny bit glad you got creeped out today because I couldn't sleep last night. I couldn't sleep because I couldn't get those human centipede images from my mind!!

Posted by: brenia at October 1, 2009 11:45 AM

I think it looks amazing. But those damn pop ups in youtube videos make me feel all stabby.

Posted by: TSF at October 1, 2009 11:46 AM

The exact same thing happened to me the first time I saw a Tool video.

Posted by: MM at October 1, 2009 11:46 AM

I don't get it.

Posted by: admin at October 1, 2009 11:54 AM

Yes, enough with the frickin centipede! Every time I see a mention of the damn thing I have flashbacks to those images. There's just no need for it, none at all.

Fantastic Fest gave the Human Centipede movie a "Best Horror Movie" award. Still not going to see it (surgery horror is not a genre I enjoy) but maybe it has some merit besides mere shock value? Yeah, probably not.

This looks like good old creeptastic fun!

Posted by: Spender at October 1, 2009 11:59 AM

What the fuck was that? I'm all for freaky deaky and indie, but there are limits, people.

Fuck this. Bring on The Human Centipede. At least then I'll know what I'm getting angry over.

Is this a 10-speed...then we got ourselves a little situation here, because I can't pedal a ten-speed, I don't ride shifter bikes, I'm used to luxury bikes...my bikes shift themselves...

Posted by: laredo at October 1, 2009 12:51 PM

I think the centipede thing is overrated. It's just a little mouth-to-anus action, what's the big deal? Has no one ever gone to a daycare, knocked out the staff, and done the same with the children? It's so funny to watch them squirm while they try to not swallow the okay oh my god I can't keep this up.

Eww, gross.

I am just a worthless liar.
I am just an imbecile.
I will only complicate you.
Trust in me and fall as well.

What an odd trailer. I'll pass on this one.

Ms Momo, my very favorite Tool song.

However, I would need to be not Sober to see this movie.

Ya, sorry, it's early. No excuse for a pun that lame.

But truthfully, from the picture, I thought this article WAS about a Tool video.

Vincent Gallo as Gollum! Awesome.

Posted by: Jesse M. at October 1, 2009 2:05 PM

That Roger dude looks like my brother. Skinny bastard.

I have a strict rule: The voices in my head are not allowed to be creepy.
Crass, angry, condescending, rude, funny, depressing: All good.
But nix on the creepy.

I wish I had even the slightest idea what this was about... I'm all for experimental animated films, though, and this looks like that, at least. So, yay?

Posted by: Anna von Beaverpuppet at October 1, 2009 3:01 PM

It's not really that creepy, just nuttier than squirrel shit. But with Vinnie Gallo I guess that's par for the course. And Roger does have an Auschwitz survivor look to him, no?

Posted by: John Denver's Wingman at October 1, 2009 3:17 PM

They're creepy because their heads are disproportionately big. Like Chucky. Or Elijah Wood.

Posted by: AM at October 1, 2009 4:13 PM

Just a very very very long and boring look at the little dude's face, then quick flashes of supposed audience bait, as if we haven't seen the boot through the window, the crowded elevator, the lingeried woman backshot etc... a million billion times before. Shite.

Posted by: cpt.rum at October 1, 2009 7:05 PM

Alexander Skarsgard is in this.
I don't remember how or why, but he is.

This means I'm going to watch this movie.
Without a doubt.

I'll be in my bunk.

Posted by: Brittany at October 1, 2009 7:09 PM

The guy in this movie looks like Moby.
Now that's fucking creepy.

Posted by: Odnon at October 1, 2009 7:52 PM

Is that Michael Stipe?

Posted by: stryker1121 at October 1, 2009 7:56 PM

I don't know; does Michael even have a type?

(Yes, that works much better out loud than typed).

Posted by: Daniel Hall at October 1, 2009 10:09 PM

The animation is very good and very different... and I like different.

But I just know I won't be seeing this; you actually lost me at Vincent Gallo.
