The Men in Black 3 Trailer Is Not Really that Exciting

It’s been nearly a decade since the last Men in Black movie, and a lot of things have changed since then. For one, there’s not nearly as many people excited about a Men in Black sequel. The trailer for the third film doesn’t exactly change that dynamic. It’s … okay. It involves a time jump, and Will Smith going back in time to hang out with young Tommy Lee Jones, who is Josh Brolin, who either has a very good impression of Tommy Lee Jones, or Tommy Lee Jones’ voice is being dubbed over. Here’s the trailer. You can watch it. Or you can ignore it.

Did Smith manage to cram his annoying shithead kids into this scientology cult product?

I'm only posting because I feel bad for everyone involved with this.

Didnt they write this movie as they filmed it (always a great idea)?
That said, I dont hate it. Really the 90s fan girl in me cant hate on Will Smith.

Well, hell. I guess I'll see it, as I was young enough for the first MIB to be earthshakingly wonderful for me, creating a sort of soft-spot black hole that sucks up all rational judgement about further installments of the MIB. Plus, Josh Brolin!

Tommy Lee Jones!

Josh Brolin!

Will Scimith!

It's No Country For Men In Black.

Personally, if I was an elderly shop owner being told menacingly to flip a coin, I’d be much less perturbed by a bowl-haired, denim-wearing psychopath than a none-more-cheery, comes-with-brood-attached Scientologist.

‘Can I put the coin in my pocket now?’
‘Aw, hell nah! Get him, DJ Jazzy Jeff!’
‘AAAAAAAAAARRRRGGHHWWWHHHHFHFHBG$T$IB$$)O(H!.....’

Chilling. Truly chilling.

Sony Pictures has blocked the trailer. Doesn't matter I will totally be there for nostalgia purposes. Not sure if I spelt that right, but I don't care enough to google it.

The second sucked, but I watched the first one everytime I went to my Grandma's house. So yeah. I'm terrible at ancedoting.

Posted by: kilmo at December 12, 2011 11:34 AM

Wow, Sony blocked the trailer already.
Excellent way of getting people interested.

Hollywood hates it's audience.

Posted by: OldSchool60 at December 12, 2011 11:38 AM

...also, does anyone on this planet actually give a s#it about a sequel to Men in Black?

Posted by: OldSchool60 at December 12, 2011 11:40 AM

Sorry 'bout that folks. It's been updated.

As if anyone really gives a shit.

Posted by: TK at December 12, 2011 11:41 AM

Yeah. Huh.

Y'know, Ep. II killed just about all the goodwill I had for MIB. It just sucked in so many different ways. Maybe, just maybe, enough time has passed that I'm willing to go back to that well and see if the water no longer tastes like condensed failure filtered through I-don't-give-a-shit.

At any rate, the trailer looks like the movie might have a couple clever moments that could be worthwhile. I'll stick it on my Netflix queue. (Yes, I'm still a Netflix subscriber, because I still consider it to be bringing value for the money. If only they'd fire the dumbass they have running the show.)

whoa. that really *was* underwhelming.

Posted by: gp at December 12, 2011 11:58 AM

Its Brolin's voice...doing a good impression.

Also I still love the original

Posted by: Luke at December 12, 2011 12:51 PM

FUCK YOU ALL! I WILL SEE THIS MOVIE AND I WILL LIKELY LOVE IT! BECAUSE GODDAMN'T I CAN, AND I WILL!

15 year old me just decided to take over.

I apologize.

Not really.

Posted by: DeistBrawler at December 12, 2011 3:13 PM

Yeah...I've always loved the first one. I more than likely will see it.

Posted by: Candee at December 12, 2011 4:33 PM

No Rip Torn?

Posted by: Baboon at December 12, 2011 5:46 PM

Only the first MIB is an actual movie. The second movie is just 90 minutes of commercials, then they realized they forgot to put in an actual story so they pulled something out of their ass about a space princess and tacked on 10 minutes of that.

Posted by: Chich at December 12, 2011 6:18 PM

The second movie is sloppy as hell, but the gag with the tiny aliens in the locker is priceless. I can't hate the movie purely because of that.

This one doesn't look terrible, but aside from the presence of Emma Thompson and Brolin's awesome TLJ impression, it doesn't really look like it's going to offer anything other than "Hey, do you kind of remember those characters from ages ago? Here they are again! You're welcome, AMERICA."

Posted by: Arran at December 12, 2011 6:40 PM

They should have stopped after the zeroth movie.

Posted by: DarthCorleone at December 12, 2011 11:59 PM

Anyone else remember how fantastic the cartoon was?

Posted by: Sam at December 13, 2011 12:39 AM

I wonder if David Cross will be in this bout of nonsense again, too.

If he was willing to take that "Alvin and the Chipmunks" money, he'll sure as shit be willing to bank on this load of crap franchise.
