Remember back when Hollywood tried to convince us McG was the new hot director? He helmed such jaunty/borderline obnoxious music videos as Smash Mouth’s “All Star” and The Offspring’s “Pretty Fly (For A White Guy),” before making his feature directorial debut with the relaunched Charlie’s Angels movie. Bonkers and full of chances to leer at its leading ladies, it was a box office hit. So Hollywood piled on the offers, and McG rolled out such spectacle-filled yet forgettable films as Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, Terminator Salvation, and This Means War. With each passing bomb, McG’s name faded from our memory. (Unless you’re a Supernatural fan, but you people are basically a cult, right?) But now he’s back. Because for every gripping crime documentary, challenging monster movie, or whimsical resurrection, Netflix must also deliver something unrepentantly stupid. And it can’t ALL star Adam Sandler.

Behold McG’s latest with the first trailer for The Babysitter.

Official synopsis:

The Babysitter, directed by McG, follows Cole (Judah Lewis), who is madly in love with his babysitter Bee (Samara Weaving). She’s cool and awesome in all the ways Cole is not. One evening while Bee is babysitting, Cole witnesses the unthinkable. Now he must survive a night full of first kisses, first broken hearts, and first encounters with homicidal maniacs (played by Bella Thorne, Andrew Bachelor, Robbie Amell, and Hana Mae Lee).

The press release doesn’t say this is written by a room full of 14-year-old boys hopped up on Mountain Dew. But it has to be, right?
