Man On A Ledge Trailer: The Quest To Make Sam Worthington Happen Continues

I’d like for Man On A Ledge to be good, for a few reasons. I’m intrigued by director Asger Leth, whose only other directing credit is Ghosts of Cité Soleil, a documentary about Haitian gang members during the Aristide regime. While it stars the unspectacular Sam Worthington (who Hollywood is determined to make happen) it’s got a pretty damn spectacular supporting cast including Elizabeth Banks (in a rare dramatic role), Jamie Bell, Ed Harris, Kyra Sedgwick, Anthony Mackie, Edward Burns, and William Sadler (not to mention the underrated Titus Welliver). It also features telemundo actress Genesis Rodriguez, who apparently keeps misplacing her clothing.

The premise is an interesting one — a man (Worthington) steps out on a window ledge threatening to jump. As the cops, including Banks, swarm to try to talk him down, it’s seen that there’s more at play and that the jumper is merely a distraction. It’s a clever plot device, I suppose. Take a look:

It’s also a movie that comes out in four months that I haven’t heard of until now, and that’s not a particularly good sign. But occasionally we get lucky in the colder months, so maybe this’ll be a diamond in the rough. Maybe?

Did the studio ask 'how do we turn a suicide story in to an action film?'

Is it just me or did they give him a mullet? Kinda distracting and almost certainly not essential to the 'plot'.

Maybe it's the hair that put him there.

I think you can never undersell the value of an actor who shows up on time, knows their lines, and does not create tension on the set.

Sure, there are hyper talented actors who the business will put up with, but generally, everyone in a production would rather work with the ones who just do their job.

There's an interview with Dean Cain floating around that highlights the reality of hollywood. Cain freely admits he does crap movies, but he notes that he gets called because he shows up to work on time and does his job without grief.

It seems likely that Sam Worthington is one of those types: knows his lines, hits his marks, and keeps his mouth shut the rest of the time.

At the sight of Sam Worthington climbing out onto a ledge and threatening to jump, many floors below the pavement recoiled in horror at the prospect of soon having to interact with something far, far blander than it.

Edward Burns counts as part of a spectacular supporting cast? Edward Burns?!

Wow, Ed Harris doesn't look very healthy these days. Does he have cancer or something?

As for Worthington: I think the hair actually makes him a little less bland than usual. I

Worthington isn't good but he isn't bad either, he just plays his part, doesnt affect the movie in a positive or negative way.

Now Edward Burns.. what the fuck is he still doing making movies?

Aw, they put a mullet on puppyface. To make him look even sadder and puppier. Aw.

So you are now telling me that Sam Worthington still exists for some reason. Interesting. Actually, no. No it isn't.

Angeleno, the idea of "puppy" being an adverb strikes me as absolutely hilarious right now. And I'm not even high!

Kyra Sedgwick and her Muppet mouth are always a deal-breaker.

Out.
