Finally, the Looper Trailer: One Of My Favorite Actors Joins One Of My Favorite Directors In One Of My Favorite Genres And I Think I Need To Lie Down
There are many faces to our beloved Joseph Gordon-Levitt — whimsical romantic, dream extractor, hard boiled high school sleuth, affable anarchist — so I’m always happy when he comes out with something new. So this new role — cold-blooded time-traveling assassin — is a brand new one for him, and you’ve gotta applaud the guy — at least he doesn’t settle for the same old, same old.
He’s joined by Bruce Willis, playing an older version of JGL’s character, as well as Jeff Daniels, Paul Dano, Garret Dillahunt, and Emily Blunt. That right there is a spectacular cast, but that’s not what really sells me on it. What sells me is Rian Johnson, the writer/director who made two of my favorite movies of the past ten years — Brick and The Brothers Bloom. Actually, I absolutely adore The Brothers Bloom, and I’m not even sure I can explain why.
But throw all that together into a fucked up time-travel story and I am there.\
After teasing us with trailers for trailers and crap like that for the past week, the real deal is here. And it looks damn pretty.
