Michael Cuesta’s (Homeland, Six Feet Under) Kill the Messenger chronicles the true story of journalist Gary Webb, who in the 90s wrote a series of articles and a book (Dark Alliance: The CIA, the Contras, and the Crack Cocaine Explosion) alleging that Nicaraguan Contras were smuggling cocaine into the United States…with the CIA’s full knowledge. A newly-bearded and bespectacled Jeremy Renner plays the Webb, subjected to an effective smear campaign that ruined his career and ultimately cost him everything. The film boasts a great cast, including Michael Sheen, Robert Patrick, Ray Liotta, Andy Garcia, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Michael K. Williams, Oliver Platt, Barry Pepper, Richard Schiff, Tim Blake Nelson and Rosemary DeWitt, and Renner looks in top hair form (way better than in that new Hawkeye costume).

Kill the Messenger hits theaters October 10th.
