Jeffster Lives, Man!

I bless the rains down in Africa / Seth Freilich

Trailers | April 27, 2009 | Comments (19)

Tonight is the season finale of “Chuck.” More likely than not, unfortunately, it’s also the series finale, and the Baby Jesus is already weeping at this likely eventuality. “Chuck” is easily one of the most consistently entertaining shows on TV right now, and it even found a way to make me not want to punch Chevy Chase in the throat upon immediate sight.

In any event, everything I’ve heard is that tonight’s episode doesn’t even come close to wrapping things up in a nice bow, and that it’s setting up the next season, which means it’ll be all the more disheartening if tonight is all she wrote for the show. On the plus side, however, if the cancellation of “Chuck” means that Josh Schwartz can take the lead on this fan-made video and bring Jeffster to the big screen, I’ve got my $10 ready to hand over.

I think I would actually sit through that, were it real.

I hope Chuck isn't canceled.

Dammit! If they were going to kill it, last week's episode was the perfect wrap-up.
That said, I actually like this show and hope it returns.

And yes, Mr. Schwartz, I'll buy my ticket to 'Jeffster'!

wait, Chuck had ratings issues???

What the hell else were people watching Monday nights?

Mr Stella is NOT going to take this news well.

Chuck was really good last week. I agree it is one of the more consistent shows out there. I really hope it gets another season. And I would totally watch Jeffster.

My main issue with NBC is, when you cancel Chuck and Life, what the hell are you going to replace it with? It's not like anything they can throw out there is going to be any better than either of these two shows.

Chuck was damn good last week, they really let it fly in terms of plot development. Easily one of the best episodes.

Agreed, chad, unless they've got some secret shit waiting in the wings, I see no reason to cancel a show you already have put time/money/production into so extensively, only to replace it with something else you're going to have put more time/money/production into that's probably going to be even more generic/unoriginal.

It's too bad shows like this never last while American Idol is on it's seventh season of doing exactly the same thing.

Posted by: Mike at April 27, 2009 7:28 PM

American Idol is in its eighth season, Mike. Just to add to your misery.

Seriously though, I hope everyone's going to watch tonight! I didn't make it to Subway to lend my support - I love this show, but not enough to spend $5 on a crappy sandwich.

I've spent a long day tweeting about saving Chuck, buying a Subway sub (as per the grassroots' movements instructions) and watching the video of Zac Levi leading 600 Britain convention goers to a Subway to buy subs and (of course) watched the season finale.

If the show ends the way it did 30 minutes ago, I'll be so sad face that I'll write letters. Seriously, I only started bragging on Pushing Daisies in the 2nd season, much too late... If Chuck dies on me I'll give up on TV dreams forever! Ugh, I'm so melodramatic I make myself sick.

Anywho, Jeffster is love. Seriously, that supporting cast is so solid. Lets make that movie happen.

Fuck me, it's Vik Sahay. I used to love him on Radio Active. Him and George. Unf.

Um, that's all, carry on.

That's what that song is saying?

I really thought it was "it must've rained down in Africa" or "It never rains down in Africa" and fuck man stupid song.

What? Why Subway subs? How would NBC even know? This is just giving Subway more business.

Posted by: Optimus Rhyme at April 28, 2009 1:53 AM

Rhyme *sigh* Lemme 'splain.

Some fans realized that one of Chuck's biggest sponsors is Subway, which is a company that also allows for comment cards 'n such. So, fans were encouraged by other fan sources to buy a footlong yesterday and put in a comment card, comment online, and/or their phone comment hotline. Voting with your feet and all that.

Oh and the customary salutations of "I rule you" and "you'll rue the day!" and such forth.

Well, Subway is a Chuck advertiser/has had some product placements on the show (specifically for the $5 foot long). Giving Subway more business is the idea. I think the idea is happy advertisers = happy network = no Chuck go bye bye.

And Subway are the people it makes sense for the grass roots campaign to focus on. As awesome as Chuck is, I don't think an equally large number of people are willing to buy an iPhone and mail in the receipt to NBC...

Kayanne,

yeah, that was fun! Zac made sandwiches for most of us, before the Subway ran out of stuff.
I didn't get one - huge queue. But since he told me later that my choice of filling would have been limited to gherkin and red onion at that point, my acid reflux thanked me for it... ;-)

They're replacing them with Jay Leno. This is not news.

LOVED the finale! Kung Fu Chuck, people!
