Watching the North American versions of the Inglourious Basterds trailers, you think you get a fairly good idea of at least the tone of Tarantino’s film, but this right here French trailer is not only far superior to the American ones, but it gives the impression that the movie may actually be better than even my highest expectations. This ain’t just a killin’ Nazi’s film, it’s A Fish Called Wanda Swimming in Nazi Ocean’s 11. That doesn’t make any fucking sense, does it?

What I’m saying is, it looks funny. And heist-y. And bloody. Also, Nazis die. Can’t go wrong with that, brother.

AAAHHH! I want to watch this but I can't!! Damned legislature voted on the budget last night so I AM at work today.

DAMN work for getting in the way of my Pajiba obsession!!!

Lord Have Mercy! I want this movie.

I want this movie like I want to sleep with the bad girl in school. You know, the one girl that has a reputation; the one that, by the light of day, you scoffed at - but you know that you'd never turn down if she so much as hinted at interest in you? The same girl that your girl hates for being so slutty and yet so popular.

And if by chance you ever did taste of her fruits, your mind would tear itself apart coveting the moment while simultaneously scrubbing the memories away. Hating yourself for having commited the act, while desiring to brag to your boys about the encounter.

And praying there will one day be a repeat.

Yeah, I have it that bad...

"That's a biiiiingo!" Yeah, this trailer makes me want to see this now. Up until today, I was only halfway interested in this movie. But that has more to do with my lack of interest in war movies and (even vaguely) historical films in general than with the idea of a Tarantino war movie.

Am I correct in assuming that there will be lingering closeup shots of one of the women's feet at some point in the movie?

The contrast between this trailer and the (I assume) American trailer is nothing short of astounding.

The earlier, shorter trailer makes the movie look idiotic. This trailer has me champing at the bit to see it...and as far as I can tell, the only difference is a little added footage.

I was never one of those fangirls who crush out on Brad Pitt...before just now.

You can never go wrong with killing Nazis, in my book. They're cinematic Pringles.

Posted by: Neodiogenes at July 1, 2009 10:41 AM

Or Lay's. Whatever. I always thought Pringles better fit the "can't each just one" appellation.

Posted by: Neodiogenes at July 1, 2009 10:42 AM

So I heard just last night on NPR that at Cannes, Quentin Tarantino said "this film will bring down the Third Reich" and when asked what he means, he said the "Third Reich is still alive because he made a movie about it but the movie will succeed in bringing it down." Anyone know if that actually happened or what he is on these days?

Posted by: PaddyDog at July 1, 2009 11:07 AM

Actually, I think Pringles could work:

Once you pop, you can't stop!

My husband always said that if the Nazi's hadn't been real, Hollywood would have had to invent them. Where else can you get whiter than white evil? You kill a Nazi onscreen and there's not a single ethnic group that gets offended.

"braque sur vos testicules." is my favorite new phrase.

I'm requesting Mr. Edna take me to see this to make up for my watching Transformers 2 with him. I think I'm going to push for Public Enemies, too, come to think of it.

Le stoked.

That is all.

You get French trailers in Canada?! Are they all so awesome?

Posted by: Optimus J. Rhyme at July 1, 2009 1:48 PM

Oh, admin, I loves it when you sweet-talk me, honeynuts.

Posted by: dammitjanet at July 1, 2009 2:03 PM

I love the mustache. And I love batshit insane Pitt.

BJ Novak! BJ Novak! whee!

All you glazypeens hold it down in here! I want to see Public Enemies (I first typed that as Pubic Enemies, which would be a whole different thing, now wouldn't it?) but now I want to see this!

The mister will either absolutely love or detest this flick, trust. He's a big war film fan. And he sort of likes Tarantino (Kill Bill and Reservoir Dogs, anyway--oh and that Grindhouse thing). So we shall see.

NEIL SCHWEIBER!

I'd go see this for no other reason than Daniel Bruhl is in it.
The American trailers were beyond dull, but this, this thrills my little Jew heart.
