If This New Boxtrolls Trailer Doesn't Make Your Heart Sing, You're Officially Dead Inside

I can’t hardly wait. Every single thing I’ve seen promoting Laika’s The Boxtrolls makes me want to run to the theater and just sit in my seat until September. Based on Alan Snow’s Here Be Monsters! and directed by Graham Annable and Anthony Stacchi (Paranorman, Antz), The Boxtrolls looks good enough to watch without dialogue. See for yourself….

The story of an orphaned boy raised by trolls who live under the street, The Boxtrolls stars Ben Kingsley, Elle Fanning, Simon Pegg, Jared Harris, Toni Collette, Nick Frost, Tracy Morgan and Richard Ayoade. Oh and that’s Cee Lo Green singing You’re So Square. The Boxtrolls opens after the excruciatingly long wait until September 26th.

Cindy Davis’, (Twitter) heart is singing so loudly.

Whenever I saw the first trailer with "We've Got the Whole Word in our Hands" I'd tear up and have no idea why. I can't wait for this.

I can't wait to take my daughter to see this! It looks amazing!

  • TheOriginalMRod

That looks so awesome! Okay, I think this is how someone should make a version of Neverwhere... please?

  • competitivenonfiction

I am so in for this one.

  • Ben

10 bucks says this gets robbed at the oscars and whatever Disney/Pixar film wins by defualt again.

  • riversarl

LEGO Movie probably has it in the bag.

  • Ben

I'm really hoping How to Train your dragon 2 steals the whole thing. It's shaping up to be fan-fucking-tastic.

  • Belphebe

    woooooooooooooooooooooo! yay!
and that concludes my entry into the eloquent discourse portion of the day.

  • Ryan Ambrose

Looks like a Tim Schafer game turned into a film.

    That's a good thing.

  • BWeaves

Remember when they said that CGI actors would soon replace real actors? It's now. And it's because the CGI actors have more facial movement than the Botoxed to hell real actors.

  • BlackRabbit

Botoxtrolls? And between Boxtrolls and Legos, we're really teaching kids to use their imaginations a lot more when playing, which should be awesome.

  • Except this is all stop motion animated.

Yeah, well I made $5 selling a hairclip on etsy. It was blue too. Take that.

  • Stephen Nein

Like The Curse of the Were-Rabbit was stop-motion. Don't get me wrong, both of these movies are gorgeous, but we should be conscious that both use CGI heavily to great ends.

  • Ben

Like 95% of what you see on screen in a lakia film is in camera, they use CG to remove wires and shit and I think to do smoke effects but other then that what you see is what was in front of the camera.

  • BWeaves

Which makes the live action actors even worse.
