I Like a Woman that Can Pour Herself into a Pair of Shorts

You know what’s truly missing from most studio romantic comedies? A superhotfalloveryourself female lead. Most studio rom-coms have sort of conventionally bland pretty leads, like Julia Roberts or Kate Hudson or old-school Meg Ryan, but few of them make you do that thing that Squiggy does in the opening theme of “Laverne and Shirley.” Gemma Arterton does, though.

Nevertheless, the trailer for Tamara Drew doesn’t look particularly inviting, although with Stephen Frears (The Queen, High Fidelity, The Grifters) directing, you’d like to believe that there’s something heavier and more substantial underneath the frothy trailer, and reviews of the film — which debuted at Cannes last year — suggests that there is. Either that, or the male critics reviewing the movie transferred their feelings for Arterton’s ass onto their reviews. It is a nice ass, it could definitely have some undue influence.

She really does have a peachy bottom, it cannot be denied. I will no doubt watch this - it has pretty boys, a lead girl with nice hair, and Tamsin Greig. I'm sold.

By the way, I should mention that I watched the trailer on mute - so I'm saying I'd like to see it based on the prettiness of the actors involved. Shallow? Me? Never.

Yeah, she definitely looks better from behind (just something...weird about her face that puts me off). Just makes me want to watch "Cold Comfort Farm", from back when Kate Beckinsale was English and looked like it too. *sigh*

And why'd they have to make Tamsin look 70 years old? That hair, my god, that hair!

Yeah, I'm just all bummed out now. I need to get pisssed with Fran.

will defer judgement until more evidence is in. imho, for duck out of water, townie in the english countryside-you can't beat dylan moran in 'how do you want me?'. it's brilliant. any time i can watch dylan get attacked by turkeys and then beat up by rugby thugs, it's a good day!

It seems to have something entertaining beneath the painfully quaint trailer.

As for Gemma's assets, I'm not a huge fan of people who are completely aware of their beauty like this character appears to be. A little humility and diffidence can be devastatingly sexy.

I thought they made her look rather unattractive in the movie.

Not just because those shorts looked like cut off mom jeans (seriously? Were they past her belly button?). There was just something that screamed un-sexy...which is hard considering the source.

I actually appreciate when attractive people, and particularly attractive women, acknowledge their attractiveness. There's nothing more annoying than a beautiful woman pretending she doesn't know she is. That said, the dude in this preview has a much nicer ass than she does.
