Hunger Games Teaser Trailer: The Forest Looks REALLY Authentic

The first Hunger Games teaser debuted last night during MTV’s Video Music Awards, and as teaser trailers released 9 months before the film goes, it does a decent job of hinting at what to expect, namely a real nature setting and maybe (maybe?) not too much CGI. After all, it’s filmed in an actual forest. In North Carolina. In August.

That must suck beans.

Teaser’s not bad, actually.

Tingles. Yep, still pretty excited about seeing this.

Maybe it's just because I live in North Carolina and the setting is familiar, but does that look low budget to anyone else?

Haven't read the books and have no idea what it's about. So I'm hesitant to even comment.

I'm guessing this is more to get the fans a-tingling than to necessarily convince people like me to give it a try.

It's working.

Wait, you think the forest looks low budget? Like...they're cheap trees? My understanding of nature is that trees take, like, 600 years to grow, so that would make that forest a pretty significant time investment. That burning tree in the trailer represented 20% of their budget.

I am excited for this, if for no other reason than because it is getting a ton of teens to go read the trilogy, and it is a trilogy that deserves to be read (unlike some other Teen series I could mention but won't because they don't deserve to be mentioned in a Hunger Games page. Or anywhere, ever).

I just ordered the trilogy cause that's how I roll.

Those last four notes...that's going to be Rue's song, yes? It's perfect -- haunting and beautiful.

Canadian, so no can view. Fuck it.

Ooooh, I'm glad you posted that, I missed it completely. Little Rue was a wonderful character and the actress they chose to play her is lovely. That's going to be quite a scene.

pretty sure we only got the teaser trailer to the teaser trailer yesterday.

This has me pretty excited. Jennifer Lawrence actually looks more age-appropriate than I thought, and I agree that those notes at the end will be perfect for Rue's song.

I compared it to the first Twilight movie, if that says anything.

*Cue excited giggling from legions of fat pimple-faced emo kids in black band t-shirts.*

Me- not so much.

Huh. You ignorance is pretty amazing, because I'm about 90% sure nobody'll be giggling. Unless, you know, you have sadistic tendencies.
