Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part II Trailer: At Last, The End Of The Boy Who Lived

UPDATE: The internet lied to me. This is apparently a fan-made trailer, albeit a good one. Anyway, it ain’t the real deal (but the clip below is). Enjoy it anyway.

Good Lord, this has been a long time coming. Despite the popularity and prosperity that the films have brought its young cast, you’ve got to think that deep down, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson must collectively be thinking, “Thank GOD.” But this summer, the summer of sequels, the Harry Potter series finally comes to a close. I’m not a Potterphile — I read the first couple of books ages ago, but eventually gave them up. However, I’ve followed the films religiously, and they seem to be continuing a strong streak after some early, boring stumbling blocks (*cough*ChrisColumbus*cough*).

Anyway, here’s the trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II. It looks suitably epic and exciting and dramatic, but it also looks like it’s going to be fun as hell.

Want more? Here’s a clip as well:

The film, directed by David Yates (who directed Deathly Hallows Part 1, Order of the Phoenix, and Half-Blood Prince), comes out July 15th. Expect it to make a gersmillion dollars.

Why's that man(?) got no nose?

Posted by: Ballymena Bob at April 19, 2011 11:50 AM

The only thing I want in life is to see Molly Weasley face down Bellatrix Lestrange.

"NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!"

Damn straight.

*Apologies for the word choices. I've just re-read Pride and Prejudice and the writing style is bleeding over into my speech and emails. I really just reread the Elizabeth and Darcy/Lady Catherine deBourgh bits in an effort to stop watching the Elizabeth and Darcy/Lady Catherine de Bourgh bits of the 2005 movie over and over again while updating my bangables list with #4 Note: Must talk the whole time, preferably in verse.

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
(takes a breath)
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I'm not usually one to fan out, but I. CANNOT. WAIT.

I can only express my feelings properly by using a banned term. Therefore, I shall act dignified and leave you a mildly enthusiastic yay.

That trailer is fan made.

The fact that I can't see the trailer and that tumblr has not exploded due to every single account rebloggin the trailer and reacting to it makes me believe this is not the real thing.

The other giveaway is likely the fact that it says so in the article.

Yes, the Bellatrix/Molly fight will be really satisfying.

I know the first couple of movies are kind of lame, but then compared to the later entries so are the books. I think the same complaints could be leveled at each.

Mr. Lysander Julien and I live alone on the prairie and consequently don't get out much, but we have gotten out to see each of these movies somehow. The last one really was incredibly well done. I even loved the graveyard scene that had me suddenly weeping copiously because there comes a time in most everyone's life where the only place you get to see your parent(s) is at some sort of monument. Heartbreaking when I saw it then. Heartbreaking now when I remember it. I've always thought they handled that aspect of Harry's burden deftly and poignantly.

Surely, despite the inopportune limitations impressed upon you by the fascistic - and of dubious necessity - banning of words, you are allowed to summon more than "a mildly enthusiastic yay"? Perhaps a comparably ennervated huzzah or a vivified ovation? It should be ignominious for you indeed, were you unable to draw upon your broader vocabulary to adequately express and delight in your previously referenced twin emotions of anticipation and joy?

The internet lied to me.

The internet doesn't lie.
The internet asks questions and your soul responds with delusion.

Posted by: superasente at April 19, 2011 12:32 PM

Yes, yes, very well Mrs. J! But are ennervated huzzahs and vivified ovations dignified? I was trying to keep things classy.

Posted by: Scully at April 19, 2011 12:40 PM

F*CK CLASSY! It's a new Harry Potter movie. Blast it with both barrels!

Posted by: Mrs. Julien at April 19, 2011 12:51 PM

YAHHHHOOOOOOOOO!

Wow, really? I thought everything peaked at book four and then just sort of fizzled out to an expected and uninteresting conclusion.

Posted by: twig at April 19, 2011 1:31 PM

I love Harry Potter. I can't wait. I would buy these books for my nephews to encourage them to read, and they devoured them.

Posted by: BWeaves at April 19, 2011 1:36 PM

twig is right about the books. I didn't find it fizzly necessarily, nor did I expect to be surprised by any conclusion other than for good to triumph over evil. I thought the problem with the books was the lack of an editor for JK Rowling with a red pen and the will to wield it.

Posted by: Mrs. Julien at April 19, 2011 1:45 PM

In that case, I see your vivified ovations and raise you a HEALLLZ YEAHHHH.

I completely agree with this regarding book 4, 5 and 6. Book 7, on the other hand, was excellent.

Mrs. Julien! I'm shocked!

and, if you'll pardon me, vaguely excited....

Posted by: logan at April 19, 2011 3:34 PM

Well, logan I did maintain some semblance of propriety by replacing the vowel with a symbol. I'm not an animal!

Posted by: Mrs. Julien at April 19, 2011 3:45 PM

Well, didn't this get tepid.

"watching the Elizabeth and Darcy/Lady Catherine de Bourgh bits of the 2005 movie over and over again."

This sounds like torture.
Just...ghaaableeerrrgghhhOOOUUUCCH! Stop that!!!

Ghastly stuff, that.
