And the Winner for Creepiest Trailer Song Goes to ....

Halloween II "Leaked"Trailer / Dustin Rowles

Trailers | August 21, 2009 | Comments (17)

We posted the trailer for Rob Zombie’s Halloween II a few weeks back, but this one is different. It’s a leaked, unused version. Comparing the two, this one is actually significantly better. Not enough to compel me to see it, of course, but better. Dude’s still got more lives that Captain Jack, but this trailer suggest he might just have a shred of heart beneath the psycho-maniacal facade.

Also, in the proper context (the dark), “Nights in White Satin,” is always a super creepy goddamn song.

Oh, and by “leaked trailer,” I mean: The studio probably slipped it to a few horror movie blogs, told them it was leaked, and got a lot of new free exposure. Savvy motherfuckers, they are. Vermin Hollywood roadkill. But savvy vermin.

My desire to see this has now decreased, which, when starting pretty low down, can only be a bad sign. Liked the use of Knights in White Satin though, I'm convinced someone needs to take All Tomorrow's Parties by The Velvet Underground and put it into a horror trailer.
As for the movie? The acting looks abysmal, and they pile on way too much violence from the looks of it. I'll skip it like I skipped the first one.

Still prefer shit with Zombies. Rob Zombie doesn't count, unless he's putting out music again. White Zombie was awesome. Nuff said.

Rob Zombie tends to get some harsh reviews. However, House of 1000 Corpses aside, I've enjoyed his other two movies. And I can even appreciate his first effort on a certain level.

The man has studied his horror films and horror nostalgia if you will. And I honestly think it shows.

OK, I have to say I never, ever understood why this guy was scary. He annoys me. His utter lack of emotion, his unwillingness to speak, his glacial pace and vague motivations--the guy's an automaton. He barely seems interested in what he's doing. If you're going to kill lots of people, at least do them the favor of enjoying it.

I like my killers deranged, maniacal, and ranting. I like to be able to engage them in conversation so you can get into their minds and see how scary they really are. Michael's just a big lumbering dolt who shuffles through his killings like it's the most tedious job in the world. He makes me want to grab him by the collar, shake him like a rag doll, and yell, "Dude, what is your fucking problem?"

The shift to the Moody Blues in the middle of a long trailer is a bit jarring, even in the context of this particular advertisement. Maybe that says a lot about how stale this feels. I never got the Moody Blues, though. And their presence here - along with vintage tvs, old cars, etc - is both unwanted and unwarrented.

We should make a Pajiba movie.

Pardon the interruption:

Oh, Captain Jack, how I lust after you. That Comic-Con video of you kissing the Tenth Doctor kept me in my bunk for three days straight.

You may now go back to your regularly scheduled Rob Zombie/ Michael Meyers discussion.

he's scary because he will kill your ass, and he won't die.
i don't need the person who stabs me and lifts me up off the ground with his weapon of choice to be reciting some heart-wrenching soliliquy.
that is all.

Why does the trailer have a different picture of the boy who played Michael? That kid looks nowhere near as creepy. (I looked it up, it is a different kid) As for the film, I'm going to see it, I love some good horror. I love some good violent horror. I would make sweet, sweet love to Sheri Moon.

Is this a Deadwood reunion? I just saw Doc and Charley Utter.

Nice trailer, but I still don't like these movies.

Was that Brad Dourif? (IMDb is my friend) Yes, yes it was. I love that guy.

Listen, I'm gonna be honest here. I have a chick boner for Zombie. And his wife, even when she does the annoying little-girl thing. I liked House of 1000 Corpses, I liked Devil's Rejects more. I did not actually see his first Halloween, because I'm old and I like the classics and I was mad about it. But, for the combo of Brad Dourif in a Rob Zombie movie? I might watch that and then this.

Zombie likes his horror dirty and grungy. I think there's something to be said for that in contrast to the clean, sterile look of the Carpenter. Nobody really gets dirty in that one.

Anna: I'm with you on liking his previous movies. Don't bother with "Halloween", it is boring and unpleasant without being scary or all that entertaining. This one, however, I'm happy it's completely leaving familiar territory. I doubt I'll make a theater visit but it actually looks frightening and the first movie absolutely was not.

I only saw the directors cut, and if you fast forward to the part right before he escapes from the hospital (i.e. when chick is getting raped) and watch from there. I would have to disagree on both counts. Oh, and the scene where young Michael slaughters his family is pretty great too.

Rob Zombie, I fucking hate you.

I'll probably watch this stupid shitting movie once though. I haven't liked one of his movies yet, but I keep trying to watch them, expecting to like at least one movie. But I never do. Piss, piss, piss.

Rob Zombie, I fucking love you.

I'll probably watch this wonderful movie seven times. I've loved every one of your movies yet, watching them over and over again, expecting the awesomeness of each movie to captivate me again and again. And it always does. Yes, yes, yes.

Pajiba, I don't understand! I have been a faithful lurker for half a year now, and I don't understand the hate you have for this man. He is obviously a person who loves and studies and worships this genre. And I am a man who loves horror, who loves the original Michael Myers, and who can separate my love for those movies with my love for these movies. Why, why, why?

"He's a huge fan of the genre...he has encyclopedic knowledge of horror films, etc."

= A guy who studies 292 shitty horror movies riddled with the same plot holes, cliches, and generally unsatisfying storytelling and decides he needs to make the 293rd.

Looks amazing

You've all got to be kidding me. There is not one redeeming aspect of Zombie's first Halloween abortion. He took a genre classic and dumbed it down with his usual mix of rednecks and cliche pop-psychology. What a hack this guy is.
