Frozen Ground, aka Nic Cage Project #29844, is due out later this year, and I’d be shocked if it isn’t straight-up VOD. The premise is based on actual events, meaning that it likely vaguely resembles something that sorta happened. Here’s the synopsis:

n Alaska State Trooper partners with a young woman who escaped the clutches of serial killer Robert Hansen to bring the murderer to justice. Based on actual events.

Yeah, whatever. Here’s where it gets fun. It stars — wait for it….

I mean… there’s random and then there’s just fucking weird.

    I've come to enjoy the Christopher Walken-ing of Nic Cage (i.e. appearing in whatever script is shoved in through the mail slat; delivering a deliciously hammy performance). This seems like it's going to be deliciously bad and I can hardly wait.

    I can't be the only one who thought that trailer was weirdly pieced together, right? Everything feels just kind of oddly pieced together, and they wait until the last seconds to even mention that it's supposedly the Green River Killer. Just odd.

  • I'm interested on the movie based on the cast alone, but JESUS that was the most amateurishly slapped together trailer I've seen in years. It looked like a rough cut.

  • We've had to deal with random jump cuts in movies for a while. Now they've decided to apply the same technique to the soundtrack.

    As an Alaskan, I'm definitely excited for this. You can't make this story up, at one point Courtney Love (when she was stripping in Anchorage) was a target of Hansen's. Will be there opening day (when it invariably is on demand on a long haul flight and I've seen everything else.)

  • Also it seems to me that in that header pic Cusack appears to be wearing the exact outfit that Nic Cage has worn in his last 43 movies.
