Clear Eyes. Full Hearts. Hold Back Those Tears

I will try not to be obnoxious and brag about the fact that I have DirectTV and have already seen the most recent season of “Friday Night Lights.” And I’ll also try to shut up about the fact that it’s as good as seasons one and three, or that episode six is the single most devastating episode of this entire television season.

I’ll just say this: It’s good, people. Really fucking good. They shook it up, brought in new characters, re-stacked the obstacles, and threw everyone into the muck. This show … I swear to God, every episode makes me want to be a better person. I sort of envy those who haven’t seen it, yet. You have 12 episodes of achy, bittersweet goodness look forward to.

Here’s NBC’s trailer for the new season. The new season kicks off May 7th.

Hold the fucking phone. May 7th I get both Iron Man 2 and new Friday Night Lights? I must remember to have a change of panties with me at all times on that day.

Oh thank god for work leaving external hard drives lying around...now I have somewhere to store all the shows I'm too lazy to buy a DVR for :)

I love this show. I've seen this season too, and it's everything Dustin says.

I recently discovered a spoiler (don't have access to DirecTV when I'm away at college) and have watched the first episode. Have since been toiling with the idea of watching the rest of the season online since I don't know if I'll be able to watch it when it airs *tear*. But seriously, I've converted my Grandma and one of my friends onto it and I think they simultaneously hate and love me for it. Can't wait to watch season 4!!

You say six, but I think you mean five...

I got DirectTV as well. The good: I didn't have to wait until May to see this season. The bad: Now I have only one more season.

Actual chills. Chills, people!

Agreed with Mawell, I'm almost positive you meant 5, not 6, where a certain someone makes a certain speech that was devastating as hell.

Huh, I don't know about chills. Having seen it already, I can vouch that it's fantastic, but that promo was corny as hell. And the QB reveal? That's actually kind of a big deal, surprised they had that in there.

Most definitely must mean episode 5, which had me weeping. I will say no more.

I am so excited I can barely contain my excitement. So glad to hear it is going to be awesome. I got a little teary just thinking about it.

The only thing that bummed me out about this season is the missing characters without any explanation of where they were **SPOILERS** like Tyra at Thanksgiving and for Mindy's delivery. Obviously the actress wasn't available, but you'd think that the story would casually mention why state college-bound Tyra couldn't get her ass back to Dillon for major events.

Otherwise, it was an excellent season. I thought the new kids really were an impressive bunch. There were several times where my, ah, room got awfully dusty... kept having to wipe my eyes...

Yep.. Episode 5 (aka The Son) is the one where every person with something resembling a heart cried (or almost choked when holding back tears). Jesus, it was brilliant!! And I keep waiting for Gilford to be in some great movie, or have a big break because he's amazing and it doesn't happen... What's up with that?!?!
Fantastic show, great season, genious episode! Watch it, people! :)
