Flypaper Trailer: McDreamy Has A Big-Ass Gun, Robs A Bank, And I Am Confuzzled

I’m not quite sure what’s going on here. Flypaper seems like it should be a good, goofily fun movie. But the pieces are so goddamn nutty, that I don’t know what the hell is going on. It’s got some great cast members — Tim Blake Nelson, Jeffrey Tambor, and Pruitt Taylor Vince. Then it’s got some wild-ass x-factors — Patrick Dempsey, Ashley Judd, Mekhi Phifer. It’s directed by Rob Minkoff, who directed The Lion King. Oh, he also directed both Stuart Little movies and Haunted Mansion. Someone, please, explain this combination to me.

The plot is moderately amusing:

A man caught in the middle of two simultaneous robberies at the same bank desperately tries to protect the teller with whom he’s secretly in love.

The trailer isn’t bad, either. It’s chock full of madcap, and has some amusing moments, but it never really got me. It’s one of the few times I haven’t wanted to punch Dempsey in that big-ass chin of his. Or big ass-chin. Whatever.

Fuck it, watch it and you tell me:

I like seeing Dempsey animated. We've only seen him as stern and stoic these past few years since he's McDreamy and nothing else. Sure he's a good looking man but any departure from perfection is welcome in my opinion. Seeing him frantic is certainly a change of pace for him. I hope he can pull it off.

It looks like a poorly executed episode of Burn Notice.

Dempsey looks exactly like Ethan Mars from the game Heavy Rain in that header pic. The resemblance is uncanny.

There's wacky, and then there's just f*ckin' crazy. I think this leans more towards the later.

This actually looks entertaining. It might be worth a look, just to see how it plays out.

I do like the juxtaposition of the seasoned pros and the "born to lose" chuckleheads.

This looks like fun. Exploding rednecks is always a draw for me.

"Please don't kill me on the toilet" has to be the quote of the year for sure

Aside from the constant wailing guitar soundtrack, it looks fun.
