There’s a certain kind of man who makes a certain kind of film that leaves you feeling like a long arm reached out from the screen and grabbed your guts, twisted them, wrung them out and left you in a heap on the floor. David Michôd is that man. You’ve seen Animal Kingdom by now, right…right? (If you haven’t, get your ass, heck, take your whole body on over to Amazon Instant or wherever you can catch it.) You’ll know whatever film this man makes next, you need to see it — *have* to see it — and then you hear it was written by Michôd and Kingdom’s Joel Edgerton and stars Guy Pearce, and you’ll watch this trailer and feel that funny feeling in your gut again. I don’t even feel like you need any further description than “dystopian western;” just watch the trailers and clip:
Jesus H…I can’t wait to see this movie so my soul can be re-crushed. Not going to lie; I had no idea Pattinson had that in him. Pearce is always a god. The Rover also stars Scoot McNairy, and just premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, where it received a standing ovation. The film hits Australian theaters June 12th, and the U.S., June 20th.
Cindy Davis, (Twitter) is already standing in line for tickets.
