The Hitchhiker Knows What You Did Last Summer

Dark Country stars Thomas Jane, who is also handling directing duties, his first time behind the camera since 2000’s Jonni Nitro. It also stars Lauren German, who is a tall drink of red wine, and Ron Perlman, who is more like a stout. It’s about a couple who decide to take a road trip to Vegas for their honeymoon, but things go awry when they run over a man standing in the middle of the road. They pick him up, put him in the car, and unsurprisingly, he awakens.

It’s a fairly generic premise, but for some reason, I like the cut of Dark Country’s jib. It helps that, for no real reason, I kind of dig Thomas Jane, but the Frank Miller-esque horror/noir stylism is certainly compelling. The trailer’s voice-over narrator, however, is not.

Maybe, after the torture porn era, from now on, every horror film gets the benefit of the doubt.

It is a generic premise... and yet, it looks really good, and I want to see it.

*sigh* I miss Don LaFontaine. He would have done it right.

Oh come on! I read that as "Lauren Graham" and watched the whole damned trailer in confusion.

Meh. I didn't see anything original. Or anything to draw me in. Fuck, I'm in a pessimistic mood today.

Kinda looks like The Hitcher (the good one, I mean - not the one with Sharpr) and 300. Colour me vaguely intrigued, but not amazingly enthused.

Sharpe, I mean, not Sharpr. Damned cider.

The honeymoon.....is.....over.
Really? That's the best that they could do?
Sir or Madam tagline writer, I fart in your general direction.

Kinda like? Sort of like? Not sure if like? Will probably download.

I just want my kids back.

I love Thomas Jane, though I have no real reason why. He was in The Mist and The Punisher, for god's sake. But I kind of dig Hung, and I'm still really excited for Give 'em Hell, Malone, and now this. Maybe my love is justified after all.

Yeah, the style actually does look intriguing, but the storyline looks weak.

Age-old tale:
Boy meets girl. Boy marries girl. Boy and girl drive to Vegas. Boy strikes pedestrian. Boy and girl flee Hellboy.

I can't even whip up a comment for this. They say when you get old the snark is the first thing to go. I better ask my doctor if there's a pill for that.

I'd watch Thomas Jane recite names from the phone book (are those still even made anymore?) Either way, he is a mighty fine specimen of a man.

Not sure about this movie plot though.

They need to do this trailer over. The narrator is terrible and the music isn't effective. I have high hopes for this project, so I will reserve my judgement until I see it.
