Cracks Trailer: She Cries Your Name

The trailer for Cracks plays like a sort of Lord Of The Flies for Catholic school girls. Directed by Jordan Scott (daughter of Ridley) and starring the luminous, yet oddly unnervingly beautiful Eva Green, it features her as the inspiring, secretive teacher at a boarding school for wayward young girls, breathing life and excitement into their cloistered lives. The trailer, I have to say, is a bit deceiving — I saw the film at the 2010 Independent Film Festival in Boston, and it’s not quite the thriller that it’s made out to be here:

The cast is universally spectacular, co-starring Juno Temple and Imogen Poots (one of our favorite British name), and the film is a far quieter, more contemplative experience than the gussied-up trailer would have you believe. But it’s also an intelligent and excellent film, and it’s finally coming to theaters on March 18th. It’s worth your while, I assure you.

I'd let Eva Green kill a whole busload of English boarding school girls. Or does she need me to do it?

Or does it make for a nice surprise gift for her?

I really, really want to see this.

That is all.

Didn't Maggie Smith already win an Oscar for this film when it was called The Pride of Miss Jean Brodie?

Still, Eva Green, my ultimate kicks-with-the-other-foot crush.

I'm nodding off at my desk here today so maybe it's just that I'm tired but...what the hell just happened in that trailer? She's the female version on Robin Williams in Dead Poets Society only she's molesting these girls instead of opening their minds?

You had me at "Lord Of The Flies for Catholic school girls."

That's really all I need to know. In fact, I hope it's the start of a trend. Please keep a close eye on this, and let us all know when they start work on "Heart of Darkness for Catholic school girls."

That should be "Prime" not "Pride".
