Can the Power of Jenna Fischer's Cuteness Redeem A Little Help?

A quirky comedy starring Jenna Fischer from Fox Searchlight typically would make the propeller on my hat spin, and I’m not ruling out the possibility that there’s more to A Little Help than evident in this trailer. But it looks slightly amateurish, like it’d come on a DVD box with a Sharpie-written cover. The cast, too, is of the bargain-basement variety, not that I don’t have some affection for many of them: Richard in “Felicity,” Rachel Green’s Dad in “Friends,” Tig in “Sons of Anarchy,” that lady that was in “Weeds,” Janice Soprano, a kid who looks like the kid on “Three and a Half Men” but he’s not, and of course, Dick Grayson from Batman and Robin (is Chris O’Donnell even capable of playing a cad?). Honestly, I’m happiest to see Rob Benedict in a substantive role.

It’s the feature directorial debut of Michael J. Weithorn, a television producer and writer on “Family Ties” and “King of Queens,” among several other television shows, and the sense of humor in the trailer veers toward 90’s sitcom style.

I might give this a try. I like some of those people and I really like Jenna Fischer. Her movies are always such craps shoots though. So... maybe? Perhaps?

Wait, does this movie take place in 2001? Otherwise, how would anyone believe that his father died ten years ago?

I don't know, it looks sort of cute.

It only works because of Jenna Fischer. For many a dudes, the Office created the ultimate woman to marry. Smart, funny, playful, pretty, strong, etc. She just exudes warmth.
