Dustin rightfully called Sundance Channel’s RectifyThe most captivating, unsettling and profoundly brilliant” drama of 2013; I’d add heartbreaking to the list. Don’t even tell me you haven’t watched Season 1 yet, because we’ll be forced drag you down TK’s basement stairs and chain you up until you do. Aden Young’s performance is a thing to behold; he’s a natural whose gaze alone will snatch up your heart and squeeze it tightly until you feel Daniel Holden’s pain. While on one level I can understand Holden’s desire to stay in his hometown, a steadfast declaration of his innocence and refusal to be driven away, after last year’s finale I just want him to leave. There’s nothing left but pain and sorrow and anger, and it looks like Daniel’s resolve is crumbling. I’m a little terrified he’s going to lose it and get himself into a worse situation. Shit, is there even a worse situation?

I probably shouldn’t ask that question.

Rectify is created and co-written by Ray McKinnon, co-stars a fantastic trio of actresses: J. Smith-Cameron, Abigail Spencer and Adelaide Clemens, and returns to Sundance Channel June 19th.

YES, IT’S ON NETFLIX.

Cindy Davis, (Twitter) has her blankie and alcohol on standby for the premiere.
