Like Tron, But French... And Sexier

OK, it’s not really like Tron. But the video game scenes are very Tronesque.

Let’s back up for a minute.

Here’s the trailer for Black Heaven, from French director Gilles Marchand (2003’s Who Killed Bambi?). The premise, via Movie List:

The story follows an innocent young kid, Gaspar, who, becoming enamored with a mysterious/gorgeous girl, is lured into “Black Hole” - a dark, obscure video game world of avatars with deadly serious intentions in the real world.

I figured we’d stick with the video game theme started yesterday. That synopsis is a little boring, but the trailer looks fairly interesting. The whole “video games blurring to real life” thing has been done a few times, but rarely well (Stay Alive, anyone?), so let’s hope this one has more going for it.

Why are naked chicks in swimming pools always facing the wrong way?

*Trying to remember if "Showgirls" is an exception, discovers entire movie has been scrubbed from brain by apparently the proper amount of alcohol.*

Still looks quite right to me.

Let me help-

Showgirls is the exception to EVERYTHING.

You, sir, are welcome.

-Lucky bastard, mine was scrubbed with a steel wire brush and a bucket of hydrochloric acid. It still didn't get rid of the brain herpes.

Where's one of those 360 camera shots when you need it?

Posted by: , at February 1, 2011 11:13 AM

As long as it focuses more on video game and intrigue and doesn't go the religious fanatic route of Caprica, I'll probably see it.

Naked chicks in swimmming pools--prefer to be one than to see one.

Probably the same place where the 'dive into the screenshot' device is.

Maybe she's unspeakably hideous from all other angles. I'm gonna console myself with that.

"Why are naked chicks in swimming pools always facing the wrong way?"

The chicks are facing the right way.
It's the director who told the cameraman to face the wrong way.
Director's suck.

Scratch the apostrophe. I'm having a typo day.

I'm less concerned with the naked chick in the pool and more on the bad CGI graphics.

This is why I'm not right in the head. Clearly.

Can someone please go find all the men with the ability to do "voiceover voice" and kill them? This could have been a cool trailer, but I was distracted every time I was melodramatically told something I could have figured out from what was HAPPENING ON THE SCREEN. God forbid anyone have to make a trailer that conveys information about the movie without having some dude just shout it at us periodically.

"He saved her life! She plays a game on the computer, which she shows him! The game is kind of intense! Watch the movie!"

End rant.

I was distracted by Mr. Voiceover reading the damn critic reviews for me. I can read the words on the screen, thank you though.

The trailer does look pretty intriguing though.

Stay Alive was an abomination (it's my word of the day!) of a movie, but I believe it was the last movie completely filmed in New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina, and it really does make the most of the New Orleans location. So at least there's a little sweet melancholy associated with it for me.

As for this movie, it looks entertaining. That's all I ask, really.

Reminds me that "Swimming Pool" is pretty good, and kind of science fictiony, in a time warp way.

I like the way the blonde chick says "Black 'ole". Zut alors!
