Because Grant Morrison Could Make Watching Paint Dry Great: First (sort-of) Teaser for Dinosaurs vs. Aliens

Rob first posted about the potential Dinosaurs vs. Aliens film back in May, and if I may sum up the pros and cons of the film most cynically: the pros are that Grant Morrison is the brains behind it, and the cons are absolutely everything else we know about the movie.

Well, there are two interpretations of this film as far as I see it. The first is that given the explosion of comic book movies and Morrison's insistence that The Matrix plagiarized The Invisibles, is simply that Morrison decided to dig up the most abysmally idiotic story he could possibly set to comic book form in order to make a movie out of it to prove a point. That's meta enough that Andy Kaufman wouldn't get the joke.

The second option, and the one that I'm more in favor of, is that Morrison has a fantastic idea for a story that will blow your mind away with such force that you forget that you're watching a movie called Dinosaurs vs. Aliens.

The plan is for Morrison to produce motion-comics that will form both a basis for a film trilogy, and provide additional bridging content. Here's the sort of kind of passing for a trailer that they've put up:

There are several more clips of interviews with Morrison and Barry Sonnenfeld over on Blastr.

If Grant Morrison is on board, the smugness budget alone will kill this movie.

That...sounds like a dumb fucking idea. I'm just saying. How many people actually watch motion comics? How many people have actually seen the Astonishing X-Men motion comic? Or, to go a little less known in actual popularity, Stephen King's short story/motion comic "N."
