Beards, Blood And Beasties: The International Trailer For The Thing That Isn't The Thing, But An Entirely Different Thing (From Another World)
There isn’t much more to say about the Matthijs van Heijningen Jr’s confusingly titled The Thing, the film that isn’t a remake of The Thing, but rather is a remake of The Thing From Another World. It’s a project that I’m annoyed by, but that annoyance has waned somewhat recently. I still think it’s a little silly — both the 1982 and 1954 film stand up well over time, but hey. Remakes, death and taxes, right? Fuckers.
Anyway, after seeing Warrior, I’m a bit more interested because of the Joel Edgerton factor. It’s also nice to see Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje getting work, and I like Eric Christian Olsen, even if he’s been in some truly awful movies — he gets a pass for his role as Vaughn on “Community” and for the better-than-it-deserves-to-be Fired Up!. So maybe, you know, it’ll… um… I’m trying here, people. Maybe?
Here’s the trailer. Enjoy. Oh, it’s in Russian, but who gives a shit. You get the gist of it easily enough. It’s got some nifty new footage that wasn’t in any of the earlier domestic trailers, so quit your goddamn crying.
