Matt Dillon and Jean Reno Are In It?!

Yes, Please Sure, Why Not / Dustin Rowles

You like heist flicks? Good, glad to hear it. In that case, you may or may not dig Armored, a heist film with a cool middle-tier cast (Matt Dillon, Jean Reno, Columbus Short, Laurence Fishburne,) an unproven director, Nimrod Antal (Vacancy), and a well-worn premise from first-time screenwriter, James V. Simpson.

It’s about a group of armored truck drivers who decide to rob their own truck. Things go awry (a cop is shot), a good guy goes rogue (Columbus Short, who is pretty great if he ever gets a decent role), and Matt Dillon goes wickedly evil. Looks like a pretty decent Saturday afternoon flick. It opens in September.

Update: The studio decided to give the exclusive to Apple, so if you want to see it, click here (at least until it shows up on YouTube in the morning).

I had a dog called Nimrod.

I read that as Nimrod Anal. Initially I thought he might be directing the wrong genre.

Wait what?!? NO mention of Mr. Laurence Fishbourne himself??! OR the fact that despite him not appearing in the trailer at all Milo VentiminiStallone is in this as well?!? For shame.

Also, for the record, Advance America can fuck themselves. Whomever approved their ad WITH auto volume on this site can watch. Fuck your ads.

Roaddog, Milo V. is the cop that gets shot.

Ah ok. Well he must factor into the story to get a billing spot on the trailer. I was suprised to see his name at the end but not to see him featured prominently. I stand corrected!

I think the trailer died.

The trailer is gone. What the fuck is with these movie companies pulling down their trailers with copyright claims? Isn't the point that as many people see the trailer as possible? And the movie and record industries wonder why they're dying in the internet age. Dumb fucks.

Apple's got it here

One thing I will say, them taking the trailer off Trailer Addict definitely made me spend more time checking out the movie then I would have if I'd been able to just click play. So there's that.

Probably won't go see it though. Maybe I'll watch it if one of my roommates buys the DVD.

That trailer simulataneously made me want to see this film AND feel like I'd already seen the entire thing. What fucking purpose does that serve, exactly?

Nimrod is a traditional Hungarian name. I met Mr. Antal while doing repair work on the stairs at his apartment in Santa Monica two years ago. Very, very nice guy (with a beautiful wife, whose ass I had a hard time not staring at).

Still haven't gotten around to watching his first feature, the well-regarded Kontroll.

I hope he's moved out of that dingy apartment by now!
