Wait!

Don’t run away!

I got two words for you:

Nacho Vigalondo. That’s the man behind this movie. If that name means anything to you then congratulations you have good taste. Yes indeed: the writer and director of Colossal is also the man whose debut feature was one of the finer science fiction movies of the new millennium—Timecrimes (Los Cronocrímenes)—and who also brought us the equally wonderful Extraterrestrial (Extraterrestre)—a low-key sci-fi comedy drama that is best experienced fresh without much prior knowledge, and which is also a movie whose praises this writer never gets tired of singing. It turns out that Colossal is Vigalondo’s second full English language feature. The first, Open Windows, was a slight let down after his Spanish language work that nevertheless still showed signs of the spark that Vigalondo can bring to his projects. Waiting to see whether Colossal will fan that spark or vice versa is an intriguing goddamn prospect in and of itself.

Bring it, Hathaway!
