And She's Waiting for Passion or Humor to Strike: "True Blood" Season 4 Trailer

When last we saw a “True Blood” vampire broadcasting his message from a television screen, things didn’t go so well and the human population was left with a less than favorable impression of their be-fanged neighbors. But if there’s one vampire who can regain the peoples’ favor (especially the ladies), it’s Eric Northman. And here he is to remind us that like our fellow man, each vampire is an individual—not a collective like the Borg.

Since Book 4 of the Sookie Stackhouse series, Dead to the World opens with Eric not quite himself, I’m curious as to where in the season that opening shot takes place. What’s clear is that American Vampire League spokesperson, Nan Flanagan has her job cut out for her, trying to repair her kind’s shaky reputation and making sure her “No Dead Humans” edict is followed. Meanwhile we get a few quick shots of just about all our favorite characters, including Pam, Jessica and Hoyt, Lafayette and Jason, who looks like he’s gotten himself into trouble yet again. And though Nan has declared this a “post-Russell Edgington world,” I think we all know better. I cannot wait to see how Denis O’Hare makes his triumphant return.

“True Blood” kicks off Season 4, June 26th, 2011.

I really hope Tara has some fun this season.

Sadly, Tara showed up in this trailer, which means she's still on the show. The rest looks great, however.

This and Weeds are the only thing I tune in for during the summer on TV. Cannot WAIT.

I'm excited -- even if a lot of season 3 was terrible. I'm now also curious to know at what point Bill morphs into the lost member of Green Day. (1:08 in the trailer. What's up with that?)

I really hope there finally was a jump ahead in time since the previous season... Judging by Tara's new weave, at least some time has passed, so that's good. I also hope the writers will be able to tie the storylines together a bit better, and not make Sookie and Tara so insufferable. I sort of can't wait to be disappointed!

Meep! Meep! Meep!

(That is the embarrassing sound my brain/heart/nastybits makes when watching this trailer. I'm not proud of being a slavishly devoted fan. But I reserve my right to dork out at spasmodic intervals)

I sort of can't wait to be disappointed!

This is pretty much my attitude as well.

Well at the very least we should see a whole lot more of Eric!

This seems as if it will be a better season. The fourth books is probably everybody's favorite (for those who have read them).

It's kinda hard to fuck this one up.

For now my only issue is, WTF is Lafayette doing with the witches? I know he's with Jesus or whatever, but...they didn't show him.

And good god, I wish Tara wasn't back.

*Hardly a Spoiler, Spoiler*

Tara isn't in the books as much as she is in the show. And Franklin shouldn't be dead yet! James Frain was the best the show had last season, and they could have done so much more with him.

And something that I say every damn season...we need Bubba.

*Not really a spoiler, but could be a spoiler*

All of the best parts of the show so far are deviations from the books (e.g. Jessica, Lafayette etc.) and a lot of the big plot points that the last season ended on aren't in the books at all. I think that aside from one thing - Sookie's love life - the show will continue to get more and more different from the books, and that's a really really good thing.

*end spoilers*

Candee - I liked Bubba, but I don't think he'd translate on screen at all.

Your nastybits sound like the Roadrunner? Cooool.

HATE the books. Love the show. LOVE me some Bheel and Sookeh. Love me some Lafayette, Jessica and Hoyt. Bring on the Pam snarkfest. I'm so IN!!

Good god I love Eric Northman. And Jessica and Pam.

Hopefull Beeeel will stop being such a lameass and will be like Book Bill--a fucking vampire who doesn't waste time whining. I can't wait.

Bubba! Bubba!

Posted by: MRod at May 25, 2011 9:04 AM

once again I step into the vampiric estrogen pool...

I second the Bubba love and posit that Jessica could end up being the hottest female, vamp or human, on the show.

The beginning of the fourth book is hilarious, and it looks like they have at least taken that bit for the show. I can't wait to see how it pans out.

They should just go ahead and change Jason's name to Kim Bauer.
