Would YOU have put Amy Adams AND the Muppets in the same movie?

Yes, yes, I would - with all of my power.

Jason Segel FTW.

All in for this one. ALL IN, I say!

Posted by: Spender at May 24, 2011 8:51 AM

For the life of me, I can't get my damn kids to watch the muppets with me. I really am starting to think they got switched at birth.

Posted by: chad at May 24, 2011 9:04 AM

God-"Well, it's rapture time! Earthquakes, lava and boils for all the damned! All of them! Marshmallows and light rock for the saved."

Wait, what's this? A Muppet movie? With Amy Adams and Jason Segel? And Swetums in the background doing a spit take? Well, just hold on here..."

And now you know...the rest of the story.

Posted by: Mrcreosote at May 24, 2011 9:12 AM

I am SO all about this. There is nothing here that I don't love. Jason Segel is starting to get Paul Rudd-levels of love from me.

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!!!!

Posted by: PissBoy at May 24, 2011 9:20 AM

Now that I got that out of the way...THANK FUCKING CHRIST.

As soon as I saw them standing in the classroom I was immediately at ease. Just by watching the trailer I feel like Jason Segel got it. And the movie gets it. Like old-school Muppets style. Methinks I may go home this evening and marathon a few Muppet movies.

I am now way more than just cautiously optomistic.

Posted by: PissBoy at May 24, 2011 9:23 AM

Finally....I have been following this since Segel announced he had been tapped to write it. I teared up, so very excited.

Posted by: Nimue at May 24, 2011 9:28 AM

"Amy Adams" was all they needed to say.

Posted by: sars at May 24, 2011 9:30 AM

Odd. Was just listening to the radio and rumors were just spoken. This movie may have just gotten even better. Animal gets arrested? Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem audition and sadly deny Dave Grohl a spot in the band????

...I seriously have to wait til thanking Fucksgiving for this?

Posted by: PissBoy at May 24, 2011 9:31 AM

I had a shitty childhood growing up and any sighting of the muppets reminds me of it. Unfortunately I am going to have to give the muppets one star.

Posted by: Pookie at May 24, 2011 9:52 AM

I wanted to punch the beginning of the trailer in the ovaries. Then, MUPPETS. So, I will be sparing this movie's reproductive organs in hopes that we'll be getting more Muppet Movies in the future.

Posted by: Pinky McLadybits at May 24, 2011 10:06 AM

YES! I was dreading this but the trailer really shows the self awareness they need to pull off a muppet movie. Thank Muppet-Godtopus!

Posted by: Paultera at May 24, 2011 10:07 AM

It's okay, Pookie. Just show us on the Muppet where life touched you.
(for the record, I'll probably be missing this for two reasons -- don't like Jason Segal and rarely have the cash to see films in the theater).

Posted by: Jim Doggie at May 24, 2011 10:14 AM

Humans unnecessary.

Posted by: Cindy at May 24, 2011 10:19 AM

Thank Muppet-Godtopus!

@Paultera

Maybe the Godtopus is controlling each Muppet with its many tentacles or maybe each Muppet is a divine aspect of the Squishy One.

I am so fucking glad my kids are the right age for this. The 6 year-old adores Adams for Enchanted, and the 12 year-old isn't jaded enough to totally diss it as kid crap yet. We're going to have a ball.

Posted by: idiosynchronic at May 24, 2011 10:23 AM

I just realized that Lady Gaga is actually Miss Piggy with less talent.

Posted by: admin at May 24, 2011 10:28 AM

And less decorum.

Posted by: Odwalla Imparts at May 24, 2011 10:33 AM

I just hope the humans are better in this movie than they were in Muppets From Space. Not a high bar to leap, but a girl has to have some expectations. Trailer looks good though.

Posted by: StoatCat at May 24, 2011 11:03 AM

See, if this were the late 70s/early 80s Gaga would guest on the Muppet Show, Miss Piggy would try to outdiva her, and eventually there would be a musical number with Gaga, Gonzo and the chickens. "I was hatched this way" comes to mind.

Posted by: Mrcreosote at May 24, 2011 11:26 AM

Holy fuck...how can I hate this now?

[siiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh]

I've loved Jason Segel since "Freaks and Geeks."

"Jon Bonham just died."

"Can't they just get a new drummer?"

Worlds best stricken look reaction.

In the balls Jim and it wasn’t a touch, it was a kick.

No. Lady Gaga WORE a coat made of dead Kermit the Frogs. Miss Piggy would not be caught dead in something like that. Miss Piggy has way more class than Lady Gaga. Miss Piggy for the WIN!~

OK, apparently I was so outraged that I was incapable of posting a link to the photo.

They had me at *headdesk*.

Posted by: Yun at May 24, 2011 3:32 PM

Doesn't it bother anyone else that that isn't Kermit's real voice?

I love the Muppets with the fire of a thousand suns, but it's hard to watch the new stuff.

You spoiled the trailer. Hey everyone, here is a link to Rick Astley singing "Never Gonna Give You Up": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ

Posted by: TL at May 24, 2011 6:46 PM

Jenna Fischer AND Amy Adams? It's been a good day.

Posted by: Uriah Creep at May 24, 2011 9:42 PM

The Muppets saved that movie. The ONLY reason I'll be seeing this is because I've been severely deprived of muppet entertainment since the Muppet Show went off air and I abandoned Sesame Street to the clutches of the Elmo machine.

YouTube is not enough.
