Sorry, two names? nar, Steven Moffat + Edgar Wright + Joe Cornish = geek heaven for me.

BTW, Joe Cornish is the guy who directed Attack the Block and 1/2 of the excellent (most of the time) Adam & Joe show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xff1pSGGNqs

Hmm. Great Blistering Barnacles, this just may have potential.

But is it real people? Because if it's that soulless mo-cap animation, I will just cry.

Posted by: Lauren at May 16, 2011 5:23 PM

*shakes fist*

MO-CAP!!!

Posted by: Lauren at May 16, 2011 5:31 PM

Yep, I'm a geek.

Mega bonus points for Daniel Fucking Craig, Serkis, and the nerdtastic duo, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

Posted by: idiosynchronic at May 16, 2011 5:35 PM

Lauren, it's MoCap by WETA. It likely won't be as dead-eyed as Image Movers Digital.

Posted by: Internet Magpie at May 16, 2011 5:36 PM

I think the two are equally important, I mean the top has the director of the lord of the rings trilogy and the director of Empire of The Sun, Goonies and Jurassic Park.
But the bottom has the Director of Scott Pilgrim and the director of the most anticipated movie of the year.
Also, Billy Elliot, James Bond,Nicholas Angel,Danny Butterman
holy shit

Cary Elwes!

I've never been a huge Spielberg fan and I'm also a bit over Moffat's work, but seeing that Wright's involved is enough to get me to see this. Good cast, too, though seeing Bell's face as Tintin (especially so digitally) on that poster is jarring. I wish they didn't go for Mo-Cap and 3D...so unnecessary. I think it would work fine as a live-action, though previous attempts were...not good. But, for me, they can never do justice to the books because they're so ingrained in the time in which they were made. I feel like they can't make the ones he did in the 50s unless they use technicolor, or his 70s' work unless they do it Coppola style or something. They're obviously updating it, but I hope it doesn't depart too much from the style and tone of the books.

Is TINTIN the dog or the boy (or is it a girl, I can't tell)? I keep thinking, "They're finally remaking RinTinTin."

Posted by: BWeaves at May 16, 2011 8:09 PM

TinTin is the kid in the trench coat. Snowy's the dog.

OH MY GOD!! AHJFGSJHKSKJHDFG.

Ahem, sorry. A large part of my childhood was spent hunched over in the corner of the library reading these...

Posted by: thimble at May 16, 2011 8:35 PM

Ugh, fuck those movies. Motion Capture needs to die a horrible, fiery death.

Posted by: Figgy at May 16, 2011 8:44 PM

TIN TIN LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Lord-ninja at May 16, 2011 9:15 PM

I refuse to watch this unless somebody blows up a rhinoceros.

Posted by: Blake Shrapnel at May 16, 2011 9:58 PM

I refuse to watch this unless Snowy gets hammered or high in a highly comedic fashion. Preferably on either opium or Loch Lomond.

Or somebody blows up a rhinoceros.

Apparently then, I am the HUGEST geek.

Posted by: Nadine at May 17, 2011 4:16 AM

I had no interest in this until I saw the names at the bottom. Now I may actually go see this.

Posted by: CptCrckpot at May 17, 2011 5:39 AM

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who spazzed over the "Tintin" part, not just the names at the bottom.

Ohhh, the trailer's out . . . it looks weird . . . gorram MOCAP i hate you!

Posted by: Lauren at May 17, 2011 7:50 AM

I don't know about this. A couple of things are throwing me off. First, his face. It's just not his face. Second, it's the tone. The trailer makes it look so dramatic and ominous of something dark, while the books to me felt much more light and comical. The panels on the books tend to be very well lit with generally bright colors and very little shadowing. And all the characters tend to be goofy and bumbling, except maybe Tintin. So the trailer's tone just doesn't feel very "Tintin" to me.

I'll probably get over it.
