According to Deadline, Maria Maggenti has been hired to write the screenplay for the Dirty Dancing remake. She also wrote the Selena Gomez pic, Monte Carlo. Baby is not in good hands.

According to AICN (via Slashfilm), Bruce Boxleitner, the title character in the TR0N films has confirmed that there will be a third one and that it will be released in 2013. David DiGilio has already been hired to pen the script. The last film, which cost $170 million to make, made $172 million domestic, but $400 million worldwide.

Scott Z. Burns, who wrote the screenplay for Contagion and is also tackling the script for David Fincher’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea told Cinemablend that the Fincher version will be “very big” and apparently will have very little direct translation from the page to the screen. Slashfilm claims that “that’s an interesting point that could lead to a lot of speculation,” but I’m not sure who it is interesting to or who would do any of that speculation.

George Clooney is dropping out of Steven Soderbergh’s big-screen adaption of the Robert Vaughn television series, The Man from U.N.C.L.E.. The reasons remain unclear, so says Deadline.

Justin Lin (Fast and Furious), who is tentatively attached to direct Terminator 5 tentatively set to star Arnold Schwarzennegar, tentatively wants Linda Hamilton to return to the series. Tentatively, according to Moviehole.

According to THR, Jon Peters, the producer who is also the star of Kevin Smith’s Superman/Wild Wild West mechanical spider story, was ordered to pay over $3 million in a sexual harassment suit after he climbed into Shelly Morita’s bed uninvited and fondled her, and then tried to have her blacklisted for ratting him out.

Jon Peters is clearly the Spencer Pratt of his day, delusional, convinced of his own excellence and just clearly TOXIC to everyone and everything around him.
But hey, Spencer didn't try to rape Superman with giant spiders. Yet.

Give him time. And more cocaine.

I liked Tron: Legacy.

It's very pretty.

And it has a very pretty lady.

I liked Tron: Legacy. It's very pretty.

It is that. Unfortunately, it's also boring and stupid, but no one bats a thousand, I guess.
