Why Are All American Girls So Rough: The Danger Girl Casting Will Rock Your Sh*t

Danger Girl isn’t a particularly well-known comic book series, but it certainly has its fans. Sort of an exploitationesque James Bond-lite trio of female super spies, it’s schlocky as hell, but it could make for an interesting movie, sort of a more risque Charlies Angels. Also? Hopefully not as terrible. Anyway, the J. Campbell Scott comic book (published by Wildstorm) was picked up by Benderspink Management and Production, and they’re currently shopping for a studio to finance the picture. In case you’re curious, here’s what the main characters look like in the comic:

Not exactly subtle, eh? Anyway, Latino Review is reporting that not only is the script currently being shopped, but that three actresses are already attached, and they’re doozies: Milla Jovovich, Kate Beckinsale, and… Sofia Vergara. Beckinsale and Jovovich are logical choices — they’re already neck-deep in their own action franchises (Underworld and Resident Evil, respectively), but Vergara is a surprising (though very pleasing) pick.

Frankly, it’s almost like a bit of dream casting, which makes me very cautious about buying into it right away, but still — if it’s true, it’s like a teenage fantasy come to life. I’d say that Agent Bedhead’s post yesterday was rather timely, no?

Oh, who the fuck am I kidding — it’s any adult male’s fantasy come to life.

Just to make your day:

Oh, you’re quite welcome.

Any adult male's? Or everyone's?

I second Kolby on that. Yum.

HOT.

i don't want to sound like an a-hole but unless they dub Sofia's voice, i doubt this is going to work.

and ppl thought Milla was bad at one point.

Well this will do it for pretty much every male there is. I'd guess the ladies mileage may very. I imagine the average Pajibabes mileage on this is quite good however.

Aren't they all kind of...old?

It's Danger Girl not Danger MILF.

Posted by: wembley at August 25, 2011 9:11 AM

"Benderspink Management and Production" (a Spishak Company).

I know jack about the comic except the title and that picture, but Danger Girl. Three actresses attached, comely as they are (especially Vergara), all in their mid to late 30's. Wouldn't it make more sense to cast younger women? I'm not an ageist, I'm 45, but wouldn't actresses in their early to mid 20's fit the theme more? Perhaps actresses not "already neck-deep in their own action franchises"?

Do people really think Kate Beckinsale is attractive and/or talented? Bangin' bod, yes, but can we all acknowledge she has the most boringest face and is tuuuuuuuuuuuurbl at actoring?

Posted by: Nadine at August 25, 2011 9:26 AM

Also, I totally agree with the age thing, nothing against these women's ages etc but the entire thing seems to be asking for a much younger cast...

Maybe they've stayed away from a younger cast after Sucker Punch?

Posted by: Nadine at August 25, 2011 9:28 AM

These characters are pretty buxom and muscular with more curves, whereas Hollywood women nowadays lean more towards the anorexic side (as they have been for years). Jovovich and Beckinsale don't seem to fit the bill. Think more along the lines of Vergara, Jessica Biel, maybe Sarah Shahi (although she'd need more meat in her).

Milla Jovovich and Kate Beckinsale? It seems that dreams do come true. Too bad they didn't chose Jolie for the third role. Then it would have been a truly perfect threesome. But big boobs doesn't look bad either

Do people really think Kate Beckinsale is attractive and/or talented?
Yes. She has a pretty much perfect body and one of the most beautiful faces I have seen

Posted by: Minto at August 25, 2011 9:55 AM

maybe Sarah Shahi (although she'd need more meat in her).

I'm sure we could find more than a few guys who'd be willing to help her with that.

Yeah the ladies in question are too old but fuck if Cruise can play a rodeo cowboy at 49 then why cant they kick some ass in their thirties? C'mon fellas I smell a double standard.

Oh and before Kolby says anything...

DIBS!

Posted by: Socrates_Johnson at August 25, 2011 10:28 AM

sars - maybe Sarah Shahi (although she'd need more meat in her).

She needs more meat IN her? Oh, this made my morning... I guess it's the little things sometimes.

Wait a minute. Did TK just do something nice for us? I'm so confused. This feels like that time Wednesday Addams smiled. Is this a trap? Oh god, he's right behind me, isn't-

Posted by: jM at August 25, 2011 11:10 AM

As a counterpoint, they could use younger girls for this...and then it would become a Disney Channel property. Miley, Selena, and Demi 4 Eva... >

This is merely a false rumor and has been debunked already.

"Rumors about this film are coming fast and yesterday, we heard word that the production/management company BenderSpink secured the rights to Danger Girl and was currently pitching the project around Hollywood. To help in this effort, BenderSpink was said to have attached a trio of notable actresses to the film: Kate Beckinsale (Underworld), Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil), and Sofia Vergara (Modern Family), but this casting turned out to be FALSE.

The Playlist contacted WME, the talent agency for all three would-be she-spies and was told that none of the three actresses are involved. We here at Screen Rant can confirm that BenderSpink is indeed moving forward with the Danger Girl movie, but when asked, the company declined to mention whether any stars are attached at this time."

Source coming from Screenrant, but there are a number of other sites that back it up as being merely a rumor.

I was never really a fan of Danger Girl, so this does nothing for me, but I just wanted to pop in a thank TK for the Homie reference in the title. One of my favorite things about Pajiba are the song lyric titles lifted from awesome songs.

Okay, if this is a rumor, there are worse ways to get a film going. And, everyone who thinks these women are too old can just go to see Logan's Run.

i lov my danger sexy

Yippy skippy! This is all.

Posted by: Nicolae at August 25, 2011 2:41 PM

Oh my God, is Kate Beckinsale REALLY wearing those shoes with that top? Ugh.

Posted by: Craig at August 25, 2011 3:54 PM

I think you mean wet-dream casting.

Posted by: James S at August 25, 2011 8:31 PM

Needless bump since it's already been proven to be false. I guess you guys are really looking for web hits aren't you?
