Which of these Pretty Pictures Whips You Into the Biggest Nerd Frenzy?

There’s a lot of new still images from various HUGE SPECTACULAR BLOCKBUSTER movies out this morning, so you can get more glimpses at movies you’ve probably already decided to see. But we’re an impatient lot. And we like pretty pictures. And making snap judgments about the quality of the movies based on them.

We’ll start with a couple of new images from The Amazing Spider-man, courtesy of Collider, which do nothing to dissuade us that the new Spider-man will be even more hipster-emo than Tobey in 3:

Next up, courtesy of Slashfilm, are several images from The Hunger Games. Is that Rue?

Here’s your first look at Jemaine Clement’s “Yaz” in Men in Black 3.

This is not a new image from The Dark Knight Rises, it’s part of a Photoshop challenge over on Uproxx. And it gave me the giggle vapors.

Finally, if nothing else has whipped your Nerd Bits into tinglies, certainly this movie poster for “Inspector Spacetime” from Sam Sprat will do the trick.

Yep that's Rue. Have you read the books Dustin?

(I have. And that picture makes me anticipatorily sad. -- DR)

So you referenced Community and did not feature a photo of Alison Brie's most pronounced secondary sexual characterstic?

I feel like the old man in Moonstruck.

Woody Harrelson looks freakishly perfect as Haymitch. And I love what they've done with Effie.

Ooh look at me! I just finished reading the last book and now I know everything about it! whee!

As I read the books, I pictured Brendan Gleeson (mad eye moody) as Haymitch. I was a little disappointed when I heard they casted Harrelson, but I'm ok with it now. I think Kravitz as Cinna is perfect though, as is Donald Sutherland as Snow.

Super excited for Hunger Games. I am hoping that my thought that Woody Harrelson was an inspired bit of casting as Haymitch holds true!

That picture of Rue makes me anticipatorily sad as well :(

CINNA!!!

Posted by: twig at January 4, 2012 11:31 AM

It's "Jemaine". Trust me.

rue and rhee !!!

Jemaine is in MIB 3? Fuck. Now I have to see it.

Just a few words of wisdom:

1) INSPECTOR SPACETIME!!!!!

2) I didn't realize Shaggy was acting now.

3) New champion of "Guy I least expected to look like a reincarnated Macho Man Randy Savage": Jemaine Clement. Congratulations Jemaine. Your prize is not suffering a drop in public opinion after starring in MIB III.

I am surprised by how much I enjoy Kravitz as Cinna in the trailer - that casting sounded AWFUL to me, but it appears to work. I still have reservations about Harrelson - I had pictured Hugh Laurie in my head. Actually, I'm not concerned about Harrelson so much as I am upset about that horrible wig. Seriously, his hair looks awful, and not in a "he's a drunk and these things happen" way; in a "really, hair department, what the hell were you thinking" kind of way.

Related to the anticipatory sadness comment - anyone else start to tear up during the one sequence in the trailer with Katniss and the hand signal? Because I can tell how much weeping is going to happen in the theater by my reaction to that 2 second clip.

Bahahhahahaha!!!!!!! I'm sorry....

@KatSings

Yes. I'll admit that I had man tears building up when the music swelled in the trailer and they did the 3 finger salute. You can tell it's district 11 saluting the tv, not her hometown.

I get chills when I see stills from The Hunger Games. I'm surprised how much I want to see it sometimes, but then I watch the trailer again and I get all excited. And teary-eyed.

Uhhh... Hastur?

Nawwwh, Rue...another hand up for anticipatory sadness. The girl they cast is perfect (looking, at least).

Posted by: sunnywithahigh at January 4, 2012 2:34 PM

Blake Shrapnel that's not it and you can't make me say it.

Posted by: mswas at January 4, 2012 3:12 PM

That really looks like "Inspector Spicetime". They go back in time to find exotic spices which no longer exist in our world.

Which is a show I would totally watch on the Cooking Channel on Demand.
