I can't be the only one happy that bitch is dead. Rita dragged Dexter down and wifey was really too stupid to keep living. In the beginning of their relationship, Rita seemed the perfect companion. She was damaged herself, so she didn't get overly close or in the way of Dex's activities - heck, they couldn't even have sex she was so messed in the head. But all too quickly Rita fell right into the stereotypical wife role, demanding to know where he was every minute, wanting him to be involved with her children (before becoming pregnant with Dexter's own child) and wanting emotional closeness with our antihero. I do think it's possible that she brought out some emotions Dexter didn't know he had, but now that she's served that purpose, she needed to die so Dexter could progress or regress or whatever it is he's going to do now to keep us entertained. Her death was necessary for Dexter to properly continue his journey.

Here are some of the cast members discussing their thoughts on Rita's death and how they feel about the upcoming season. Like Lauren VĂ©lez, I still miss Doakes and found his death much more traumatic than that of Dex's whiny, little breathy-voiced wife.

Dexter returns September 26, 2010.
