Warner Bros and Hasbro announced today that they will be moving forward on a feature film based on Dungeons & Dragons, the world’s most popular role playing game.

A script has already been written by David Leslie Johnson, who also penned Wrath of the Titans for the studio. Roy Lee (The LEGO Movie and How To Train Your Dragon) is listed as one of the project’s producers.

I actually enjoyed both Clash of and Johnson’s Wrath of the Titans, and remember really wishing they had just been Wonder Woman movies. I’ll be curious to see what this team can do with a twenty sided die and a few bugbears.

I’m assuming this script will be an original property, but for the moment we can all dream about our favorite D&D franchises on the big screen…and that means arguments about who plays Tasslehoff, and how irritating a movie with Tasslehoff in it would be. Or, if you prefer Realms no one can remember, let’s get ready for a new generation of Tumblr fanfic about Drizzt Do’Urden.
