Two New Unknown Actors Added to 'Star Wars Episode VII'
There was recently an open casting call held for Star Wars Episode VII that brought in over 70,000 applicants. The lucky young actors joining the cast are American Crystal Clarke and Englishman Pip Andersen. Clarke has been studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and is in the upcoming film The Moon and the Sun with Pierce Brosnan. Andersen, on the other hand, is a professional free runner who’s got a long list of big-name clients but not much acting experience outside of commercials that I can find. This might tell us a bit about what kind of action sequences we may be getting in the new film. There’s few photos available of Clarke, but this is her headshot:
And here’s a shot of Pip from his website:
And if you’d like to see him in action, here’s a commercial he did for Sony back in 2012:
It’s nice to see some other unknowns added to the cast, and Clarke helps with the diversity issue as well. I find it interesting that Andersen has been listed as a full cast addition when it seems to me he’s more stuntman material, but honestly the news from the Abrams production has been promising so far so I’ll trust them. As long as someone there works to break him of his lens flare issues.
There was also news that filming will go on a two-week hiatus in August, presumably to allow Harrison Ford time to recover from his broken ankle. Despite the break, there’s no indication that the December 18th, 2015 release date is changing.
