Trouble with the Curve Trailer: Clint Eastwood Still Old, Still Crusty, Still Awesome

By Dustin Rowles | Trade News | August 8, 2012 | Comments ()

Robert Lorenz, who was the assistant director on a long-line of Clint Eastwood films, has managed to pull Eastwood himself out of acting retirement to star in Trouble with the Curve, a baseball film that follows an ailing scout in his twilight years as he takes his daughter (Amy Adams) along for one last scouting trip. Justin Timberlake also stars as the love interested (Adams', not Eastwoods'), Matthew Lillard as the hot shot douchebag, and John Goodman as, who cares, it's John Goodman.

It doesn't look half bad: A middle-of-the-road baseball flick that will kill a couple of hours.

Trick question: NOBODY! You got NOTHIN'!!!

    Old farts RULE!

  • zeke_the_pig

If I were as old as Eastwood the last thing I'd be trying to do is kill a few hours.

  • Jerry Kenney

    There will be tears.

  • hapl0

Do you think Clint Eastwood had a baby at the young age of 66 just so that no one can make fun of him 16 years later?

  • BarbadoSlim

Matthew Lillard? Cereal Killer Matthew Lillard? Huh, I thought he was dead. Might be worth going to see this just to see him.

  • Skyler Durden

He killed some cereal in The Descendants last year. Good flick.

  • BarbadoSlim

    I'll check it out.

  • laylaness

    I was a weepy mess.

  • TheMudshark

Not grumpy enough. I need Gran Torino levels of grumpyness now. You canĀ“t just give us the good stuff and then lower the dosage.

  • Eve

I must live in an alternate reality where Justin Timberlake CANNOT act. Because he keeps being hired by renowned, respected directors for his...acting skills?

  • I'm living in the same reality because I just don't see it. He's not bad. He just doesn't add anything. And the fact that he started acting likely because he was just a name a marketing department thought would sell makes me just roll my eyes every time I see him on screen.

  • Crystal O.

I'm with you on this one. Sure, he's great on SNL, but I cannot take him seriously in anything else. I think it's his voice. He'll always sound like a brat, which is why I think the only thing he's ever been really good in is "Alpha Dog."

  • Snath

I don't think he does a bad job. He's lickable likable, funny, charming, and he's not a terrible actor.

  • BarbadoSlim

Although he does do great SNL.

  • Ted pikul

I really don't know if Clint's and Amy Adams's appeal can overpower my massive dislike of Timberlake enough to make me watch this. Stay tuned!

  • To be realistic, Clint Eastwood's daughter should be played by Jane Fonda or Mary Steenburgen.

  • BWeaves

My first feeling was that Clint's daughter should be a generation older than Amy Adams. I don't care if Clint really has teenage kids. If you're rich and famous, you can nail childbearing women easier than if you're the regular guy who he is playing.

Let's see, the wife's timeline is 1945-84, which means she was a baby boomer who died at the age of 39. Clint was born in 1930, which means he would have been 15 years older than his screen wife. That's not too terrible an age gap. Amy Adams was born in 1974 which makes her 38, which is way older than I thought she was. Yeah, I guess this is more realistic than I originally thought.

Thank you for talking that out with us.

  • Bert_McGurt

Amy Adams is only two years younger than Clint's daughter Alison. Not to mention he has 19 and 16-year old daughters as well.

  • Eastwood's real life is unrealistic.

  • Bert_McGurt

God, can you imagine being a weinery 16 year old coming to take his daughter on a date?
"Uh, no sir, Mr. Eastwood. I don't think I'm getting lucky. You're quite right sir, I am a punk. Thank you sir, I DO need a change of pants."

  • Snath

    Burned by facts!

  • Bernie

    hmmm, daughter? Granddaughter maybe.
