The idea of a Daredevil reboot has been floating around for months, but it’s one of those ideas that you’d think somewhere along the line, a studio exec with some common goddamn sense would put the kibosh on. Studios may be exploitative, and they may put out plenty of crap, but in the case of most sequels and reboots, there’s at least a profit motive behind them. I fail to see it here, given the the poor showing of the first Daredevil movie and the generally moronic idea of marketing a blind superhero movie. Nevertheless, it looks like the idea has moved at least to the stage where a director is attached, in this case David Slade, better known to the masses as the director of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and to people that actually care about movies, as the director of Hard Candy.
I hope to God someone stops this before it gets any further. (Source: Variety)
Meanwhile, in other ideas too stupid to exist, a fourth American Pie film is not only in development, it’s reached a stage where there’s little possibility of turning back. Jason Biggs, Eugene Levy, and Seann William Scott are officially now signed on, and negotiations are ongoing with Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari and Jennifer Coolidge, negotiations of which probably amount to: “Here’s $50. Would you like to be in American Pie IV.” I don’t expect any of them to turn down 50 big ones at this point in their careers. That’s probably five times the going rate on Klein’s last five films. I also understand that Reid will receive one free line of coke for appearing in the film, and two lines of coke if she agrees not to take off her top.
Filming on American Abortion Reunion begins in May, or right around the time that Seann Williams Scott gets out of rehab. It’s written and will be directed by Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (Harold and Kumar). The film will be set at their high-school reunion.
A Daredevil reboot could be good, as long as somebody does the smart thing and constructs a decent trilogy with "Born Again" as the third movie.

Aside: Slashfilm is reporting that Aronofsky has left The Wolverine. And now, I go back to not caring about this movie. I hope Marvel wasn't being their usual cheap-ass selves.
As for those two stories: Daredevil proved that it had nothing but a small following. Just because Green Lantern and Thor are coming out, it doesn't mean they should resurrect it.
And as for American Pie 4...why? Oh wait, we were just talking about how NONE of the actors involved in that series were up to anything of note right now (With Alysson Hannigan being the exception). I'm sure it didn't take more than promises of catering and TV interviews to get most of these thesps back on board.
I hope...nay DEMAND...Chris Klein show up as Detective Nash for this sequel. It's the only way it could get better.
I was reading yesterday that Sean William Scott went into rehab recently.
I wonder what drove him to it. Maybe it was seeing Tara Reid's bizarre boobs and stomach again? The idea that Jason Biggs was still alive? That ShitBreak wasn't gay?
Or just the idea that this is all that he can do now. That would drive anyone to drugs.
And Chris Klein! Maybe seeing that dude again and coming to the realization that Holy shit I have to be in a movie with CHRIS "STREET FIGHTER" KLEIN to keep my career going was just too damn much for him.
Since he's done every other American Pie atrocity so far among plenty of other crap I'm sure he's been signed on since five minutes before they came up with the thought. Someone at the studio must his kids tied up in a dungeon somewhere.

Oh come on, the American Pie/Street Fighter crossover movie is obvious here!
Thomas Ian Nicholas:Dhalsim
Tara Reid:Blanka
Chris Klein:Chris Klein
Mena Suvari:Cammy
Jennifer Coolidge
Jason Biggs:Ryu
Eugene Levy:Zangief
Seann William Scott: M. Bison
In a fight to the death.

There have been like a dozen DTV American Pie movies. Why do they need this? Have they seen what Tara Reid looks like?
And the Daredevil movie is going to be Born Again, from what I read. So there is some hope. I just worry we will get some Twilight poof as Daredevil.

The American Pie reunion is all our own fault- its because we laughed while Reid, Stifler and the kid from Loser all sunk their careers. They have no choice but to reunite, no one else will hire them.
I have no adequate explanation for this, and God(topus) knows I'm not proud of it, but if all it takes to get Mena Suvari to show up is $50, I'm going out to find a cash machine. If she takes PayPal, even better.

I do seem to remember Jennifer Coolidge having an unbeatable finishing move...
There are plenty of good Daredevil stories around that would make great films. Unfortunately, they chose a cigar store Indian to play a character with superhuman agility, underused the good actor they had as a villain while showcasing the less talented and less interesting actor and shit all over Daredevil's history (angering geeks) without producing a good story in the process (angering everybody else).

I admit it...I've never seen an American Pie movie..not a one.
I did, however, see Daredevil. I loved Colin Farrell, and I wanted Jennifer Garner's necklace. Yeah, that's about it.
1. When all was said and done the Affleck version actually made money despite its reviews.
and more importantly
2. I believe the rights to Daredevil revert back to Marvel if the character is left inactive too long.

I liked the first Daredevil movie and Affleck as Murdock. Born Again is a great plot though and I hope they have the final battle with Nuke...Gimme a red!!!

I think American Abortion would be a significant improvement. And if they can somehow make it a parallel story to whateverthenameofAlysonHaniganscharacteris on HIMYM, I will pay to see it in theaters.

Daredevil numero uno was um, not good. That being said, I would totally watch another one given my irrational love of superhero movies. Hopefully they nix Colin Farrell. And Ben Affleck. And Jennifer Garner.

Just remember next time: If you have the villain get shot in the knees, having him fall to his knees in defeat is asinine. Dude would fall anywhere BUT his knees.
American Pie was always a cheap-ass Porky's which was in turn always a cheap-ass Animal House. Never understood how this movie made it to "classic" status.
Personally, I believe some concepts should never make it off the comic page and Daredevil is one of them.
I honestly don't understand the comments about Daredevil. Everybody and their mothers know that film was crap (while Elektra was flaming crap). But the proposed reboot has nothing to do with it.
Anyone who has ever read "Daredevil: Born Again" knows the character has enormous potential for a film adaptation. The fact that Matt Murdock is blind simply means he's a blind lawyer -- that doesn't make Daredvil "a blind superhero", just another superhero with superpowers, and a great one at that.
I just hope they make it right this time, because it's pretty obvious the new installment will have nothing to do with Ben Affleck's movie. It's a case of Tim Burton vs. Chris Nolan all over again (considering they want a reboot and, hopefully, a more dignified adaptation).
