After years (and years) (and years) of false starts, rumors, speculation, and Bill Murray cock-blocks, the Ghostbusters franchise has finally gotten some news we can celebrate. And no: It’s not a sequel.

It’s a reboot.

With women.

According to Variety, Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat) is being courted to relaunch Ghostbusters with a female cast, working from a script that would be written from scratch (presumably with Feig’s input). The leads would be females, and given Paul Feig’s output work, we could probably anticipate Melissa McCarthy and/or Kristen Wiig in one or two of those lead roles. Rose Byrne and Sandra Bullock might have an outside shot, too.

That’s terrific news!

But as much as I like and respect Paul Feig, and as much as I appreciate that he’s directed two of the most successful female-led comedies of the last 5 years, you know what would be even BETTER?

An actual female director to direct a female-led movie.
