These Men In Black III Posters Are Lazier Than The Entirety Of Men In Black II

Photomosaics are generally pretty fun. An artist friend of mine does something similar in her painting, usually with her lips, and I'm never not impressed by her work. There's something inherently interesting about being able to closely investigate pieces of a whole, that's why we review TV shows by episode, as well as why the microscope was invented. Spotting the individual images, finding the patterns, unraveling meaning behind the choices of each. It could just be that I'm a nerd.

Anyway, clearly the designers behind the posters for Men In Black III are as inspired by mosaic artwork as I am, because they have delivered unto us these two teasers for the third installment of director Barry Sonnenfeld's "the aliens are among us, and they are we" trilogy. Take a look:

Seriously, guys? That's the best you could do? Just repeating MIB3 (or, "cubed") over and over and over, alternating between light and heavy font styles when necessary? So much time and effort (relatively speaking) just to buy a couple extra seconds of people staring at your images muttering under their collective breath, "WTF? M...I...B...3...? Oh, MIB3. And that's supposed to be Will Smith. I get it." You may as well have described the way Smith and Tommy Lee Jones looked in the first Men In Black, for as accurate as you got them. My friend uses her lips and captures her subjects better!

Oh, well, I guess there's a website hidden in there, too: themeninblacksuitsarereal.com (which just redirects back to the movie's Facebook page, if you were so inclined to investigate). The best I can say for the Agent K portrait is that it looks like it could believably be Jones or Josh Brolin, who share the role in MIB3. Unfortunately, the Agent J image just makes me think of this.

Men In Black III will be released May 25, 2012.

Rob Payne also writes the indie comic The Unstoppable Force, tweets on the Twitter @RobOfWar, and some of his wares can be purchased here. He was pretty sure MIB3 had already come out and he had successfully avoided it. Alas.
