Who knew that lovably, ever-so-slightly pudgy Andy Dwyer could transform so seamlessly into this hunk of scowling, glistening action-movie man meat? The full trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy, which will also star Lee Pace, Karen Gillan, Zoe Saldanda, Benicio Del Toro, Djimon Hounsou, Michael C. Reilly, Glenn Close, Michael Rooker, and the voices of Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel — will debut tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

In the meantime, here’s a 19-second teaser. Pay extra special attention to the :15 second mark.

Comments Are Welcome, Bigots and Trolls Are Not

  • Ben

Oh my lord I'm so excited for this.

  • Holy God, Andy.

    This goes beyond Awesomesauce.

  • Wrestling Fan

    I CAN'T WAIT!!

Seriously, GotG has been among my very favorite books of the current century. If the movie can capture the spirit of the books, I'll be in heaven!

  • Anna von Beav

OH MY GOD that just reminded me about the flirty tickle-fight dream I had about Chris Pratt last night!

  • "Tickle fight"

  • Ryan Ambrose

Meanwhile at DC headquarters: "a Wonder Woman movie? That's going to be too complex and unbelievable for American audiences"

Marvel headquarters: "an alien raccoon with a machine gun and a talking tree? Here, take my money and hire the guy from that gross slug creepfest movie and give him 200+ million dollars. Also, get me that adorably huggable fella from Parks & Rec and let's make him an action star"

  • Bananaranma

This is the watermark...If Marvel can pull this one off, just open the back catalog flood gates. No need to just go with Thorial and Stark. A talking tree, 90s Liefield lookiin' raccoon with an attitude, three blue/green skin aliens and Space Mugatu as the bad guy? And that snippet looked AWESOME.

  • Batesian

Dude, Rocket deserves so much better than to be mentioned in the same breath as Liefeld.

  • Rophiandis

To be fair, he does use ludicrously oversize guns and he has been seen with his fair share of pouches. I guess if the off-panel shoe fits...

  • fracas

    Needs more Rocket.

  • Batesian

The teaser's teasing us by hiding him behind Groot. Bastards.

  • BWeaves

I keep wanting to call this Guardians of the Galaxy Quest.

  • JJ

    By Ronan's Hammer!

  • foolsage

By Grabthar's hammer, by the suns of Worvan, you shall be avenged.

  • cruzzercruz

Once they get to their HQ, "Knowhere," the floating head of a dead celestial being, I think people are going to begin to wonder "WTF is going on..." If this stays really true to the comics, some of the supporting characters are going to just flat out upset average folk.

Meanwhile, I'll be basting my cheeks with popcorn butter in delight.

  • BlackRabbit

Won't that make your pants all messy? Oh dear.

  • emmalita

Now I'm really looking forward to it!! I kind of love things that upset average folks.

  • Ben

As an example of things that might upset average folk.
This is Quasar, riding her lesbian lover/space dragon into battle.

  • emmalita

A lesbian lover who is also a space dragon? AMAZING!

  • Great argument for gay marriage, or GREATEST ARGUMENT for gay marriage?

  • emmalita

Oh, we can take this a step farther than gay marriage. I want a heterosexual lover who is also a space dragon, so now I'm finally crossing over into inter-species marriage. Pat Robertson was right! Gay marriage leads to bestiality!

  • cruzzercruz

Me too. I want to see it twice, once to soak in its awesomeness, and a second time to soak in the confusion of the people around me. Their befuddlement will be sweet icing on the experience.

  • Wrestling Fan

    Only twice?
I fully intend to sit through as many showings on opening day as I can before the theater catches on and kicks me out.

  • cruzzercruz

You're right. I better wear my old black hoodie and sweats to the theater. I'm going to need camouflage when I lay down on the floor in between showings.

  • emmalita

Paste some skittles on the back and you'll blend right in.

  • Mrs. Julien

I'm not comic literate by Pajiba standards, although I have upped my game by listening to Mr. J indoctrinate our son, but I am mesmerized by that tree looking thing. The interwebs are telling me it is called Groot, but I shall call it awesome.

  • Fabius_Maximus

It's been made even more awesome by Vin Diesel.

  • Ryan Ambrose

The man was the Iron Giant, he's got a pass for life from me.

  • foolsage

    Su... per... man!

  • emmalita

I recently listened to the How Did This Get Made podcast about Fast and Furious 6. It's a must listen for any fan of Vin Diesel and/or The Rock.

  • Bodhi

The HDTGM crew's love of those movies is slowly winning me over...

  • Snath

I listened to the episode for F&F6 and then immediately rented the movie. It was the only one I have seen, and I was not disappointed. It's exactly how they describe it.

  • emmalita

I have seen them all, and they are all bonkers entertaining, unless you get uptight about the depiction of gravity and other physics stuff.

  • Mrs. Julien

    That seems so very unlikely.

  • linnyloo

    Iron Giant, yo.

  • foolsage

I firmly disagree. Vin's shown that he has the chops to pull off exemplary voice work, and Groot is... in the right hands... a really fun character. I think it's perfect casting.

Mind you, he's a plant monster of few words.

  • Samantha Klein

Is Lee Pace in this trailer? And if so, can someone please point him out?

  • Guest

    12 Second Mark:

  • Samantha Klein

Cool, thanks! I thought maybe that was him.

  • Guest

It's not Lee Pace it's Star Lord. Unless I missed him he's not in the teaser or the full trailer.

  • Rophiandis

He's in the full trailer at 1:58, though you can't see his face or anything. He's the one with the hammer holding Drax by the neck

  • Guest

1: I think the 13 second mark is more important: AMY POND!

  • foolsage
  • Dennis Albert Ramirez

    that's what i'm here for
